The one Nevaeh I know of (my ex worked in a daycare, and the kids there had an assortment of interesting names...) is of the neh-VAY variety.

I used to be in a class with a Nevaeh and she pronounced it like the brand mentioned in dumbfish's post.

You were! That is fairly remarkable that there is an adult Nevaeh!

Maybe I'm wrong? She probably would have been born in the 90s - I was 26 when I graduated.

I pronounce it when referring to the genre of music/dance, but not when referring to people.

Well, the L is subtle, but I certainly don't say "foke."
Golf is another interesting one. I pronounce it "gawf."

An ex of mine once dated a dude who was apparently really hot, but super-dumb. She figured that for the hotness, she could put up with the dumbness for a little while.
The breaking point came one day, when she and her friends were hanging out, and talking about nuts. The guy asked her, "Honey, what are them nuts I like?"
And she said:
"...
Almonds?"
And he nodded, and stared off into middle distance, and repeated back: "Yeah. Allmonds." (pause) "Alllllmonds."

it's better than in northern california (where your allllmonds come from), where old folk say "ahhh-muns" (ahhh as in apple).

Not to objectify all of you except for Nick Ink, but I will find folk attempts at rendering phonology to be always, always fascinating.

to echo cf above: wtf? "(ahhh as in apple)."???
I can't do phonetic on my keyboard, but we do a schwa for the second vowel of almond and the first one is pretty front/open 'a'...

I don't understand what's odd about pronouncing the L in almond.

I think I almost pronounce it, but although my tongue moves towards my top incisors, it doesn't quite meet them when I do so.
The long, deliberate pronunciation of the L in almonds (as the dude sort of spaced out) is an entertaining part of the above story to me, though not half as fantastic as the phrase "Honey, what are them nuts I like?" which I now say to myself almost compulsively whenever I'm eating almonds.
