Being in the US and unable to get a real Mars bar
wait what
yeah, your mars bars have almonds or something. our mars bars taste pretty much like snickers, sans peanut.

Mars bar in Aus and UK is nougat, with a caramel layer on top, surrounded by chocolate. (similar to US Milky Way)*
Milky Way here is a half-size bar. just nougat surrounded by milk chocolate.
3 musketeers is unavailable in Aus.
*almond Mars Bars are a thing in Aus, and delicious.
Commonwealth-style Mars Bars are available in the US if you know where to look, but not too easily...

Weirdly, my otherwise-Polish-leaning local grocery store has a little section for British foods, so you can get the xenoMarsBar there
Also this

my friend bought a deep fryer a few years back and we had a party where we deep fried snickers, girl scout cookies (thin mints and pb patties), oreos, and a 3 musketeers I think. The 3 musketeers and the oreos won. pb patties were pretty bad. Snickers was ok.

OK, my confusion was based on the fact that 3 Musketeers have *less* stuff in them than Mars/Milky Way, and the "on steroids" bit read like you meant the opposite.

Are Reese's products still unavailable in the UK? Peanut butter in candy is a pretty American thing (and a delicious one), but someone told me there was some other reason they weren't in the UK too. On another forum I used to be on, people would send each other care packages sometimes, and UK folks always requested Reese's pb cups etc.

I don't know about the UK, but Reese's are pretty common here now - that only happened in the last couple years.

Yeah, I reckon they'd be awesome!
Reese's stuff is around, but it's not available everywhere, and it's fucking expensive. I saw a tiny pack of minis for $6.95 the other day. The 3 pound bags are about $18 at Costco, but the bastards have been run out for weeks...

Greg, you should make bocce balls. Little balls of pizza dough stuffed with cheese and sauce and pepperoni and deep fried.
You should also make dauphonoise potatoes or whatever they're called. The ones that are like potato chips filled with mashed potatoes.

I thought everyone knew that 3 Musketeers is the sad ,"Wha whaaaaa" horn of candy bars. Pretty sure the 3 Musketeers were named Waxy, Air-Filled, and Stale.

When I was little, I'd peel the chocolate off of 3 Musketeers and then take that fluff nonsense and compact it into a bean of tolerability.

We did a deep fry party at my buddy Dance Magers' house. The best things we did were: tempura leftover pizza, batter dipped/fried cadbury creme eggs, and then tums. Breaded, fried tums.
They were only the theoretical best.
