send me one too! i've never read any!
milly the human bookmobile!
Aight, darlin'. I hope you're drawing. I'm hitting the nectar. It don't really matter what you draw as long as it is alien and cold and yet familiar, like a hot dog. Anyway! PKD is yours! Tomorrow when I get the courage to get on that fucking desktop.
I drew a little last night, your HARASSMENT paid off! just some boring half-sketch sort of things, but i can scan em for you if you want. I'm having trouble drawing a sufficiently creepy Stone.
Baby, HARASSMENT always pays off! I KNOW you. You just need a leetle bit of a push. I've seen your art you cagey bitch! The faces you draw are true. You're just young and I'm taking advantage of you n' shit. Dude, do I ever have a story for you, though. Did I tell you about the Russian immigrant? He comes to the US and witnesses a suicide and moves to Southern California. A guy in his apartment building befriends him and leads him to a cult in a beach house. They think they are reborn famous people, and they sacrifice animals and people that are beautiful hoping that Helen of Troy is reborn, who is also Marilyn Monroe, etc. They watch surgical drama on cable. Etc. It's pretty fly! Because they are going to kidnap a moviestar and sacrifice her...and the leader of the cult of beauty was Verlaine in a past life and in this life he has a skin disease...etc.
YOU are cagey! trying to guilt trip me for watching television, mr sopranos.
is this the story you posted a portion of in the story thread? because that was supa-fly indeed!

I am CAGEY! Yeah, I watch some serious stupid TV like I can admit I've watched the nanny show where parents have a shitty dribbler and hire an english chick to Fix it. And I've watched the Golden Girlz.
Yeah that was it! That was me fucking with those kats though! It's a beast for real. It needs a red pen and a bottle of bleach.
I just want you to be comfortable and excited bout what you draw Plus! I am excited to see some of those expressions of human-ness you do so well, and so revealingly. Showing the monster underneath.

Hey Milly,
I don't know if you did but if you tried to send any e-books to me at the address I put there last night that won't work. I put the wrong email address in (hey I was tired!). I just updated it again. So that is my address.
thank you.

Bought based solely on the amount of love it gets around these parts.

And while Dick is great,
The Dispossessed
has not received nearly the love it deserves. I've lent my copy to GCR immidiately after getting it back from KJ, because having is bad and sharing is good.

bought yesterday, but close enough:
and, on a less fun note, the Baron's Psychology GRE prep book. Not that I don't have already to read this summer, but how could I pass up getting in on a certain someone's employee appreciation action?
Thank you Lucy!
The woman at the store who was helping me locate the science book glanced at the Murakami and Nabokov and said, "oh typical female books" to my annoyance, but then she grabbed the Lightman and put in my basket, and I had to admit, after reading the blurb and realizing it was the book a good friend had recommended a while back, that she more or less pegged my taste correctly on some level.

Yeah, she was, though in that way where I think she just completely lacked all social skills, you know? Which I suppose I can forgive more than someone who is being purposefully snide, but it makes retail an interesting choice of occupation. Still, she particularly pissed off my feminist-side by that comment.

yeah, people who don't know how not to be rude shouldn't be working in retail.
i figure it probably stresses them out, too.

Jacob Atabet: A Speculative Fiction - Michael Murphy
Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
When We Were Orphans - Kazuo Ishiguro
The Grapes of Wrath and Other Writings 1936-1941 - John Steinbeck
Word, I'm all over the new Ishiguro once Foucault's Pendulum stops beating me in the face.

I think only rude people should work in retail, far more fun then the smiling robots who I usually have to deal with. They don't care about my customer satisfaction, they want my money for sure, but I'm going to give it them anyway, they might as well entertain me for a wee bit, it's not as if I take anything they say seriously.
