some friends of mine did a short tour with them last year; one of the best fucking shows EVER. Words cannot even begin to describe the greatness of this band, especially live. Anyone seen them since the new bassist came on board?

Yeah. This song is good and all, but their recorded stuff never even starts to compare to their live performances. I don't listen to 'em too often just because I feel like their albums are completely misrepresentative of their sheer awesomeness. I pretty much just listen to their records so i can stay familiar with their material in order to be more excited when i hear 'em live.

Anybody who's heard the album knows what I'm takin about when I say that the song "Poppa B" is SO GOOD

I could see Devendra Banhart writing it and playing it

I'd never heard of them till i saw them live accidentally at all tomorrow's parties earlier this year. I fell asleep in a small spliff coma and woke up to these guys bopping about like a bunch of ADD kids. i loved 'em instantly, especially the one who had the audacity to wear red trousers. I mean, pants. They need to come to England more, and play in my garden.

I don't know if this is out yet, I think it got delayed, but I've heard it, and holy crap what a great record. Like: I don't think of them as an album band, like how there's "sound" bands and "song" bands, you know. They're just their own entity of awesomeness, and their records are great but not especially cohesive, but this one just rocks shit out of the park, beginning to end. I'm grouping it in with the Deerhoof Green Cosmos EP in how it's representative of this certain kind of party vibe. Just good times, this record. It makes me think of rooftop barbecues in Philadelphia in the summer on a nice day. That's what this soundtracks. Poppa B is indeed great, but so's Totally Pos Paas and a ton of other songs. Like... anthems for happy living.

I haven't seen them live yet and I'm PISSED. Their record release show they played with members of Sun Ra's Arkestra. And they opened at the Hold Steady Separation Sunday release. God. Wish I was on the East Coast when these things went down- The two summers I lived within Philly city limits, I never got a chance to see them. I am hoping they will come to Olympia since their current label is run out of this town, but this seems unlikely.
