It reminds me of one of my favourite examples of someone getting tripped up on slang they're unfamiliar with:
A Danish friend of mine was coming to the end of her year-long exchange to New Zealand, and somebody asked her how she felt about it. She said that she thought New Zealand was a lovely country and she'd enjoyed her time here, but she was tired of not being settled anywhere and would just like to go somewhere and get rooted. We had to explain to her why she got the reaction she did.
