i would like to try this, now that i'm once more living in a vegan house that cooks almost all meals.
our house seems to be a dead zone for plants though, even my formerly healthy houseplants are wilting and dying in the new place. i'm worried!

Speaking from experience: basil will grow indoors like
crazy
, even if the only windows in your apartment are facing the building next door.
Oregano is a pretty safe bet as well.

Rosemary is a freaking champ. You can plant it in a pot and let it thrive inside. Since it is a bit like a shurb, you can eventually transplant it outside. It's an evergreen so you can still delight in it's flavor all winter long.

We bring several of our herbs indoors during the winter. We grow rosemary, oregano, basil, sage and mint under a couple of growlights. The key (for us) is the growlight and keeping the plants watered but not overwatered.

i've got a lovely collection of edible plants on glass shelves in the kitchen window. it's pure gold to finish a beautiful meal with fresh garnish plucked from a handy nearby potted patch of herbs. chocolate mint, basil, violets, chives and rosemary are my personal favorites but there are more plants i'd like to have convenient access to than available shelf space. measure your window and have a glass place cut pieces to fit - then mark, measure, and mount.
