Ideas, anyone?

I've been trying to avoid getting back into smoking on the job, because I've been pretty good about limiting my cigarette intake and I really don't want to get back into it.

10 minutes isn't really long enough to get any reading done, although I was able to skim the New York Times magazine today.

Is there anyone to play cards with?  On our 15 minute breaks at work we get in a few hands of Sheep Head.

Obviously you don't work in a mall or someplace similar, or this wouldn't really be an issue.  I'd say do something odd or artistic, like bring a camera and guerrila-style like find a subject and shoot it and get out.  See what kind of gritty scenes from customer service you come up with by the weekend.

Buy one of these www.phxglass.ca and put it a minaurising machine, then fit it into your pocket, make the most of your first couple of minutes before following the advice of Maaik.

Where do you work? That makes a difference to ideas, though cards is a good one.

If you had a 15 minute break, you could be famous in it.

You could take a brisk invigorating walk (again, depending on where you work and also depending on whether you are one of those smokers like me who enjoys smoking and walking and therefore associates place/activity with habit.)
You could make a list of anagrams.
You could call someone and tell them that you are calling them in order to not smoke. If you call a nonsmoker, they generally get really excited about this.
You could file your nails. Or go floss. I'm serious: Hand/dental hygiene is very important, and it would also give you something to fiddle with. See also: knitting, but subtract the hygiene part.
You could keep a journal and write in it when you get the urge to smoke and deconstruct your urges.

10 minutes is plenty of time to spit a wicked freestyle but if you get caught there will be much merriment among your coworkers

Yeah, but his "Wicked Freestyle" would probably only turn out to be WEEL FEISTY DRECK.

i quit smoking via the caffeine replacement therapy method. for that i highly recomend penguins (http://www.peppermints.com), for a constant and managable caffeine dose. as for what to do on breaks... how long has it been since you talked to your imaginary friend? i think you owe him a call... Were I to become employed and under that employment, I were allowed fifteen minute breaks at regular intervals, I'd like to go for a short walk or perhaps pee on something.  Or sleep.

Al fresco urination is highly underrated.
