Is Judy Henske as amazing as she sounds on that Jack Nitzsche collection??

I have no idea! I've never heard any Jack Nitzsche collections, but the Judy Henske & Jerry Yester album is truly great and weird. I read about it Richie Unterberger's Unknown Legends of Rock 'n' Roll, and here is what Unterbergers says about the album on All Music Guide:

Quote from: "Richie Unterberger"
A cult treasure, ripe for CD reissue, though few picked up on it in its day and few have picked it up since. Not readily comparable to much other late-'60s psychedelia, it's rare that rock combines pretty, accessible melodies and off-the-wall eclecticism and experimentalism so well.

Oh well, that wasn't as informative as I hoped it would be. Anyways, it is amazingly weird, but catchy, and has never been released on CD (I have a rip of it from vinyl downloaded).

totally downloading this right now.

Sorry Boganlux, I think the song is called is called Road to Nowhere it's on The Jack Nitzsche Story - Hearing is Believing. Her voice is really amazing - in the liner notes she talks about how the record she made with him got her dropped by Reprise and details the kind of pills that they took during it's making. I've been trying to find anything by her since without any luck..I will try to hunt this down. Thanks

all that will come through is the track off the nitzsche comp--still waiting on the album. but that track is pretty awesome. sorta reminds me of early work nitzsche did with neil young, only way weirder and more echoey.

Yep. And, literally, two seconds ago I became aware it is has been reissued on CD (last month) in England, although, apparently, the reissue is of spotty legality.

If I were only allowed to keep one of my records, I think that'd be it right there.

Right now I'm listening to Edith Frost. My kinda-sorta lady friend turned me on to her, and it's pretty good.

Was there some moral conclusion reached about the case of out-of-print records? Or preferably a link to that thread so it can avoid being rehashed here? I'll delete the links if John wants.

edit: Actually, I'll take it on the words of Andrew and Pook that John would not approve. So I deleted my orginal post.

God damn.

Everytime I don't listen to this album for a couple weeks, I almost completely forget how fucking awesome it is.  Weakling is the gift that keeps on giving.
