hey, what are the third and fifth albums there (the one with the god holding the trident and the one with the bodies floating off the ship into the air)?

Which, by the way, is probably the best album cover thus far in 2006. Or maybe 2nd, behind
Ys

I hate the cover of
Ys
. That's right, you heard me. Love the cover for
Meek Warrior
, though.

without the internet, last.fm is suddenly useless, and therefore i'm suddenly wanting to use this thread on a regular basis.
so yeah:
that's, in order:
108 - holyname
108 - songs of separation
public enemy - it takes a nation of millions to hold us back
public enemy - fear of a black planet
morrissey - vauxhall and i
american music club - a toast to you (live in pittsburgh 2004)
urge overkill - saturation
silverfish - organ fan
kitchens of distinction - cowboys and aliens
disembodied - if god only knew the rest were dead
and also, process is dead's first EP, which is way too obscure to even be mentioned on the internet, let alone have a picture of the cover posted anywhere.

Is that process is dead EP the one with the bubble wrap or whatever? I remember that being a hot item for a couple of months back in the day.
And heck yes to the disembodied, that was the best mosh metal minneapolis ever saw. They were probably the first mosh metal band I ever saw and it was spectacular, like huge pig piles and massive shout-alongs.

re: process is dead--the one with the bubble wrap is the split with pg 99. there was also a split with a death between seasons, and the four total songs from those two records were collected onto a cd ep. those records aren't totally impossible to find. HOWEVER, i'm talking about their debut three-song 7 inch that wasn't a split with anyone. in my opinion it's their best work, and almost no one who didn't see them on their first tour is even aware of its existence. my band was booked on the show they played in richmond on that tour, but we flakity flaked on it (i had 8 other members in that band over the years, and i was the only one who wasn't a flake at least some of the time), so i didn't go because i was disgusted and pissed off. my guitarist did, though, and he picked up a copy of their first ep. i lived with him at the time, and it knocked me on my ass, so i dubbed it from him. i'm pretty sure if i ever want to own my own copy of it, i'll have to just buy his from him. i consider myself lucky to even have the dub.
re: disembodied--if you saw them in the earlier days, when they still sounded like they did on "if god only knew..." then you are SUPER lucky. i liked the later stuff, and martyr ad for that matter, but they never again reached the heights they attained on that ep. the part in "bloodshed rain" where the music drops out for a second, the singer screams "god save us!" and the whole band comes back in, pounding the crap out of one low e chord over and over, is probably the best moment in all of mid-90s mosh metal. jesus christ.

The first time I saw them was probably in '97 or '98. I think "Diablerie" had just come out. Allmusic claims both Diablerie and If God Only Knew... came out in '99, but I really don't think that's right. Maybe they were re-released on ferret or something.

that's gotta be it. i've had "if god only knew" since 97. still though, you're lucky to have seen them at all.

No album covers, even though I realize that that's the whole purpose of this thread.
The Knife - Silent Shout
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Yo La Tengo - Prisoners of Love
Why? - Oaklandazulasylum

Which Alasdair Roberts album is that?
Farewell Sorrow
is his best I think. He's got a new one coming out early 2007, with all original songs (his last one was all traditionals).

I'm only on my second listen, but it's good so far. A sort of clear early morning feel to it, sparse and fresh, with some subtle moments of unease (on some tracks) in the background, like moaning violins. But it's dominant sound seems to be slow picked guitar with male or female vocals that are quiet and kinda subdued.
EDIT: Less sparse than i'm making it sound, but it's still delicate.

Yeah, that is Farewell Sorrow. I'm only really just starting out on him, but i'm definately enjoying it enough to want to seek out more.

I had forgotten that I need to get me some John Martyn.
Since I'm here, in reverse order:
Fugazi - Repeater + 3 Songs (though I'm not gonna reach the 3 songs part)
Silkworm - Italian Platinum - This is a recent purchase based on the love for it on display around here. It does not dissappoint. I'm not sure I'm gonna finda song that grabs me in the way that "Into the Woods" did but this album is strong, strong stuff. Opens and closes with fantastic tracks.
I Was a King - Remove the Crown EP - This was recently linked to. Again, I'm liking this quite a bit but I didn't get a cover and AMG doesn't have them listed.
I don't remember all what I listened to at work but the last album was
Charlene - Charlene (released on Shark Attack!)

Also the Copeater CD, which I could not find an image for, but here's a description from some website:
Quote
Wisconsin's most brutal unleash a pulverizing album of crust-grind sickness. Eleven tracks of full-on pummel featuring ANAL BLAST's drummer, and a vocalist who creates some of the best gore art around. For fans who think a combination of He Who Corrupts and early Napalm Death would be pleasant. LP version limited to 666 copies.
