Oh man, I love Zulu Records! Unless they've changed in the past 5 or 10 years, which is entirely possible. I used to be able to get CASSETTES of local unknowns there. And an excellent vinyl collection, iirc.
When shopping for records in Canada, I've always had an unfortunate habit of not really reading the price tag, figuring it'll all work out even in the end.

That was a great assumption to make!... until now.

Well either it was a cruel joke, or times have changed quickly. Let's compare a certain album I saw in both stores in the past two days:
Zulu Records, Vancouver: The Mountain Goats -
Sunset Tree
- $17.99CAN + 14% sales tax
Easy Street Records, Seattle: The Mountain Goats -
Sunset Tree
- $9.99US + 8.75% sales tax
It's nearly 2-to-1 there. (Or I need to have my eyes checked.)
<repositioning imaginary spectacles> it looks like i should spend more time in seattle?

it's pretty rough comparing ANY music pricing to easy street. that place has bar none, historically, generally, across the board, the cheapest prices on new music i've ever seen.
an example, straight from the recipt in my wallet: last month i bought three full-lengths, one ep, one cd single, and one 7" single there. total price: 51.94. and to top it all off, harvey danger was playing for free at the time of purchase....

hey, and for the record, it's pretty easy to get into canada even when looking pretty homeless. they hardly batted an eye at my huge backpack, asked me where i'm from, and then i waltzed right in.
