It'll be like we have our own chatroom for people who can't sleep!!
Basically, I'm not sleeping cuz I slept till 4 today. Just like I slept till 4 yesterday. And the day before. And the day before.
That's why I'm camping out on LPTJ and waiting for other people to respond to my hilarious witty banter!

I'm here! ...but I woke up at 10AM and that was sleeping in late for me. Uh oh. I'm glad there's at least someone up...I've just lost my last AIM convo to bed. I need to be entertained!

In my defense, it's only 1:52 AM here on the west coast. And I'm unemployed. And I don't have class tomorrow. But I'm sober.

I came to write a thing in the comics thread about how much I like the comics of this guy, Joe Sayers. He's fairly obscure, he just does these little chapbooks made at Kinkos and a webcomic called Thingpart I think is awesome, but there are selections of his work in the new 2005 Non-Required Reading thing. Just in the introduction, as examples of work that's good if expectations are low. Or some such thing. I like him, he is funny. (Funny thing about that book is the back advertises content by Daniel Clowes inside its pages, but this is a falsity.)
Oh oh: I saw this thing at another messageboard, one I don't post at, about an article about "kill whitey" dance parties thrown by ironic williamsburg hipsters and a girl from Cocorosie says something racist. Let me find the link.

ahh, i saw that over on ILM, right? that was quite a thread! i'm reading the political response to katrina thread on ILE at the moment.
I know nothing about comics every though I worked at Newbury Comics. They now sell primarily cds and dvds, but I still felt lame about that.

I'm all about killing whitey.
I'm just resisting getting a myspace account out of sheer ludditeism. I probably know half a million morons that do the whole myspace drama thing.
This, of course, coming from the guy who has had a livejournal for years and has never once had any livejournal drama.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/25/AR2005082501818.html
Bianca Casady, a multiply-pierced woman with a scalp divided between long dark hair and a buzz cut, grabs her female friend by the hips and shakes her like a blender. She steps outside, catches some fresh air and talks about the party.
"It's about being nasty, people come to grind on each other," said Casady, 23. "It's like friends being sexual with each other."
Casady was raised in Santa Barbara, Calif., but quickly notes her worldliness by listing the cities where she has lived along the trail to Brooklyn. A regular Kill Whitie partygoer, she tried the conventional (that is, non-hipster) hip-hop clubs but found the men "really hard-core." In this vastly whiter scene, Casady said that "it's a safe environment to be freaky."
Granted the reporter makes her sound way more racist than she probably actually is.
But this is just one of those oh man I do not get hipsters at all type things. Because I do not like booty bass, and I'm not afraid of black people. So this is just so very much not my scene. (I don't want to have the "hipsters" conversation but I will say that I grew up in the suburbs and listened to indie rock records all by my lonesome and didn't meet people who shared my tastes until college. Most of my friends, being geeks, weren't music kids at all. So the whole concept of "hipsters" is lost on me, because... because it didn't exist in my suburban high school, mostly- I have other reasons but the more I speak the more I am having this conversation which I said I didn't want to have.)

It's hard for me to believe I've had an lj for over 4 years (also drama-free, thank God). I've also had no myspace drama, but I don't use it to blog and send bulletins and all that good stuff. I just use it for pictures and networking, like friendster with a larger network. It can be mildly entertaining at times...

I don't read ILM because of all the horrible people I perceive as being there. This was (and I feel bad about this too) at the K Records forum, where I lurk because as an Olympia resident there might be the posting of news that concerns me- Like I heard about the Evens show there months before it happened. There's no such news up there now but that's how I found it.
I am on neither myspace or Friendster or livejournal. I have a blog though:
http://briannicholson.blogspot.com
, you know, as long as we're sharing. It's pretty livejournal-y, not too politics. It used to be really angsty like two years ago, but if you go there now you can find the story of my last hilarious and absurd job, gained via temp agency.

I was up late last night, I wrote an e-mail to someone recommending the A-Frames and found someone on soulseek who had something labeled Kevin Shields and Patti Smith. It was one piece, over an hour long, and I didn't download because I didn't know what it was. Does anyone know what the deal is there?
Oh and if not last night, then recently I had dreams of reading this messageboard, no shit. The main thing I remember was the idea that Jordan Michael sent Greg Nog a lot of e-mails to which he got no reply, and Greg was just like "I am not the kind of person you imagine me to be."
My unconscious is boring as hell.

I haven't had a problem with ILM since I don't take it very seriously, and a lot of them remind me of my dad and his friends. I don't perceive awful people, but maybe that's just me, heh. I'm

Ha, both your livejournal and diesel_powered mention- well you mention Plato and Socrates and diesel mentioned Foucalt. I find this funny because awhile back on this forum there was a lot of shittalk on philosophers which I found amusing as someone who doesn't read philosophy- I find it pointless and redundant as someone who thinks they lives their life well and could argue their decisions using logic instead of alluding to other people's writings.
(I find fiction and such good for what philosophy provides to other people, and in a less didactic fashion; but the idea of reading that stuff- I had to read Foucalt for class, and the class was one I hated, and I hated my professors, particularly the one dude who loved him some Foucalt.)

I've never had a LPTJ dream. Maybe tonight, if I ever fall asleep...although at this point I've got to wonder if I should even bother trying...I'm already fantasizing about caffeine. Isn't that how I got into this mess in the first place??

I had a conversation with my roommate about mixed drinks- He was strongly opposed, I saw his point but was less adamant, but he is more of a drinker.
What I'm saying is: Straight rum. Perhaps with Coke as a chaser.

I'm taking intro to philo now, which is the only reason I'm reading it. The literature itself has actually been quite interesting so far, but my prof is completely pretentious and self-satisfied. It's been a frustrating experience.

Well see friend I agree to an extenet, like I sinply adore straight vodka.... but sometimes the captian needs friends, see??
Granted, it makes you feel more ballsy to drink it straight... but there really is nothing wrong iwht a mixed drink... esp. the one listed above... the Mr. Pants. Sure is tasty. And cutting lemons up while drunk rulz.
A chaser of coke?? I really don't think that qaulifies as a chaser.

I am actually thinking of going to sleep now. I have been sitting here listening to Fugazi records on my laptop- I started with Instrument, didn't notice when Repeater came on, and now Steady Diet Of Nothing is about to come to an end.

SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, I love Fugazi SO MUCH. For real, favorite band of all time, hands down. But the relevant information here is that I got
Steady Diet of nothing
in the mail this week which RULED because I had never heard it and NOTHING makes me happier than a new Fugazi album. And I was having a sHITTY week, like SHITTY AS ALL HELL, I cant even describe to you... but for some reason walking around with that shit on my headphones just puts a big grin on my face and makes everything a fucking OK. Hooly shitt. You go to bed, man... get your sleep. Tommorrow is a Saturday. Sleep in, enjoy it. I hope the weather is nice where you are.

Oh that's just the hipsters being ironic. They're too cool to get wasted and grind on each other to Lil' John at da club because there are those big black guys there. So instead they listen to Lil' John mixed with some Prefuse-73 at one of these parties and grind on each other and giggle at the anemic white boys.
But that's seriously passe. Everybody knows the true hipsters are totally genuine and pudgy is the new thin.
In other news, it's not good to stop and read LPTJ when you're totally fucking up making a grilled cheese sandwich.
Low n' slow is the name of the game, kids. Just like ribs.
