so, by some miracle or clerical error somewhere, i am elligible to take the digidesign protools 201 and 210M certification tests. these are usually $3000, but because of my grades, i can take them for $50, and this basically says that i can use a big ol' TDM rig as well as almost anyone who is a professional protools op. i did not intend or really even want to take this, but i also didn't expect to qualify for the deal. a pleasant surprise though, in the midst of a shitty time.

Man, Jim's Boy is makin' me happy.  So is the fact that one of my co-workers became a grandpa this weekend, and that kid has TONS of thick black hair stickin' up on his head.  

Also, later today I'ma watch The Devil and Daniel Johnston, and I just remembered the time Wally told Stephanie and I that my music was very much like the songs of Daniel Johnston being performed by Lionel Richie.

I know I don't sound specifically like either of those people, but I do have a little hope deep down that he's right.

Anyway, here at work, we have a service manager who is generally regarded as a complete asshat.  I have taken the approach of always being as nice and sweet as possible to him, and not only is he consistently very nice to me, he also treats my customers very well.  Most people here have had to have it out with him at one point or another, and most have had to deal with customers being unhappy about him.  My customers think he is great and very nice, which makes them even happier with their whole experience here and more likely to send more people my way.  
It constantly surprises me how few people have managed to figure out that if you're just nice to everyone your life is so much easier.

The happy thread is kickin' ass in that last handful of posts.  I'm mostly back here to remind anyone from earlier that I don't ACTually sound like Lionel Richie or Daniel Johnston at all, not that I know of.  But the comparison does certainly make for a good pull quote.

Also, Jim, I believe I do have a show in Chicago in March, but I haven't yet talked to my cohort there who's doing the booking.  Will certainly let you know.

I got this tangerine LifeWater at school the other day and I left it in my car. Unfortunately, it's been so cold here that it froze. This presented a problem as it had been clunking around in my car for a few days, solid as a rock. This morning, I put it in my fridge, going against my instinct to just throw it out. It thawed a bit in the fridge, so now I have a giant tangerine squishie! I need to freeze those things more often!
