Truly, I have discovered the meaning of winter this week.  Nothing makes you appreciate cold weather (which I formerly despised) like sitting in front of a roaring fire, reading a good book and listening to good music.  Even if the chair you're on isn't very comfortable, and part of the reason you're sitting in front of the fire is that the house has no heater, and everything is freezing fucking cold (we don't even bother to put things in the fridge anymore, they're fine on the counter).  Seriously though, when I have my own house, there's going to be a fireplace in every room, even the bathrooms.

OT:  We got a half-inch of snow between 8 and 10, and, sagely, I stayed home from work today.  Dog and I went for a most excellent walk by the creek.  

Also, it just started snowing again, and the talk at UNC I theoretically stayed home to attend just got cancelled.  Guess that means I can start drinking.  Yessssss.

You never see white-guy-dreads being rocked by a guy with a reasonable tan or a healthy looking complexion.  It's always a sickly pallor peering bleary-eyed from a knotted tonsorial mess.  I think that's where my problem lies--that funky juxtaposition of a hairstyle rooted in tropical island culture and pale, stinky neo-hippies.  It's an unhappy marriage.
