I'm sure someone else here must actually give a shit about cars.
I just watched Dazed and Confused again last night, and as per usual, I spent 3/4ths of the time watching it just staring at the cars.
Just give me a 70s Dodge or Chevy, I think I could die at least marginally happy.
So what are your favorites? Why?

A 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454. It's the be-all and end-all of muscle cars for me.
But this... THIS, my friends, takes the cake. This is, hands down, the sexiest car ever made. I'd gladly give my left nut for a chance at this. Holy shit. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT IT...
The Jaguar E-type. Look at those curves. OH MAN. That's a fuckin' V-8 under that wee hood.

my dad has a 1968 camaro z28 that he bought when i was 3 and spent the next 5 years restoring. when i was 7 we took it to the car craft street machine nationals in illinois. that shit was incredible. so many awesome hot rods everywhere, my head about exploded.
he still has the camaro to this day, but he hardly ever drives it. once, though, i was at his house and my car needed a part, so we drove the camaro to advance to get it, and the entire staff of the place came outside and drooled over the camaro for 10 minutes. it was kind of awesome.

My first car. Though mine was what my dad referred to as "cat-shit yellow." We put 'em side by side once, and it was longer than a Suburban.

A guy that I was friends with in high school drove a 63, candy apple red Impala. He was also very handy at fixing it up, maintaining it (he ended up going to college to be a technition for mercedes or something) and it was so pretty. Anytime he would come over, all of the old men in my neighborhood would somehow gravitate towards my house to ask him questions about it and ooh and ahh over it.
I also enjoy a number of old mustangs.
And, for some reason, the mid late 80s-early 90s Volvo sedans (very boxy ones) caught my eye too.

My dad has a '66 Mustang and '46 Ford that would both be awfully pretty if he'd fix them up. But in general, I'm more with blucas on this topic.

You people have got to be fucking joking (except for rockme's E-Type). Allow me to introduce my friend:
"Hello, my name is Porsche Carrera GT. I boast over 600 horsepower from my 5.7 liter V10 (which, Dodge Viper fans, revs to 8400 rpm). My chassis is a carbon fiber monocoque design and I have carbon-composite disc brakes just like a Formula 1 car. Also like a F1 car, I have four-corner double wishbone suspension with pushrod-actuated transversely-mounted coilovers. Long story short, I am the fastest, quickest, most technologically advanced production car in the world."
In other words: Any muscle car ever made can suck it.
(Edit: Yeah, I give a shit about cars)

Dude c'mon.
c'mon.
Haven't you any respect for the classics?
Seriously, everything made before 1976 was just way more beautiful than everything made after.
I'm sure the Carrera could school a charger in pretty much every way, but I don't care. Mine makes prettier noises, and will probably get me laid more.
btw i'm drunk. Just fyi.
so none of my posts from here on in will make aNy sEnSe!!!!32mgnvd hkcc b

Porsches just seem like cars that people who want an expensive sports car but don't know what kind to get buy.
Jerry Seinfeld, for example.

No, see, Porsches have that rep, but it belies some really, really good engineering. They're really not overrated at all as far as performace goes: they're some of the best cars to drive in existance, not to mention the fastest.

Amen. Likewise, just because a bunch of yuppie assholes drive BMWs doesn't mean they're not fantastic cars (though more than a little overpriced).

However, there's still something to be said for cars that may not be as fast as a new Porsche, but are still gorgeous.
Besides, I like to watch you try to fix that 600hp v10 in your garage with household tools.

Yeah, I totally agree. It's just that the question posed in this thread was "what are your favorites," and that is my favorite car. Also, I hate muscle cars. I'm more of a late 80s through present day Japanese car guy, if we're talking realistically here.

Well since we're talking about our favorite cars, then my current favorite is Old Bess, my 1990 Oldsmobile which has been completely reliable. The molding from the front driver's side door has fallen off since this picture, but it just gives her character.
But before I knew the glory of Old Bess, my favorite car was my '93 Thunderbird. Our relationship soured a bit after this, though:
I apologize in advance if I have inadvertantly derailed this into a "post pictures of your own car" thread.
