Hi John - I kinda try not to participate in the discussion-of-the-LPTJ-pieces stuff, at least not in the sense of providing explication, because I think it's more interesting if I don't say "here's what I meant" esp. with pieces like that one - the fun is in playing with it, for me anyhow -
"Thanks. For nothing" was totally great btw

I.e., "is it the desire of the art or the artist to be forgotten" - I put the question to you!
This post is dedicated to my profesor Paul Mann, who used this exact technique in class, to some frustration and some (my) great delight: "So is Barthes saying the author dies as soon as he's written something?" Professor Mann: "Is that what he's saying?"

Man, this new layout totally fucking sucks.
What happened to the links page and all the old articles.
How come the new articles don't have the cool shape around them that must have taken hours to lay out in the past?
I bet you don't even like Venomous European Metal any more.
Was all of the Amnesiac stuff just a joke?
This is like trying to read Hebrew.
What gives?
Sell out!

To John and Johnp:
See my comments in the '8/22' thread- they are the tip of the iceberg.
"Please do not understand me too quickly." (Jean Malaquais)
"In bad art everything makes sense." (Richard Sennett)
"The unravelling of a riddle is the purest and most basic act of the human mind." (Vladimir Nabokov)
"To exaggerate the point: no enigma, no interest- riddles are the life blood of art." (Charles Jencks)
"It is half the art of storytelling to keep a story free from explanation..." (Walter Benjamin)
Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Ladies and gentleman, the one and only Tsahkratis. (Nick I think if you'll look closely you'll see a note of satire in Tsah's post.)
The archive link needs fixed but all the articles are still there. Right now it can only be accessed via the following MAGIC TRICK:
1. Go to homepage, click "archive."
2. Get error message.
3. Click "archive" on error message page.
4.
Voila

L.: whither the links page? Or: can we look forward to an awesome & updated links page? LPTJ must show love via a links page, if it has any love to give. The music-blogosphere will never forgive LPTJ if it doesn't show love thus. Then LPTJ will end up spending Friday nights alone, watching the Avengers & the Saint on BBC America, while the other blogs go out on the town.

hahaha it takes an act of Congress to get LPTJ to leave the house on Friday nights, and even then all it does is complain about how people suck and wouldn't it be better to just go home and raid the fridge

Links page will happen someday. Or links sidebar, though that may be too "bloggy" for some. Either way, someday LPTJ will be able to show up at the ball adorned in a floor-length links page and make a glorious entrance that leaves other blogs dumbfounded.

From what I've gathered LPTJ is one of the rare cases where the blogosphere is happy to give without receiving. It is seen as a benign planet of wisdom and charm. To link to it, to be seen acknowledging its warm power and grace, is its own reward. One requires no further compensation. A prayer ends with "amen," not "holla back."

Boy is my face red!
My face is cold with anguish now that I have learned of the discoloration in yours, Nickosaurus. My heart is full with sorrow, and I offer you my most sincere and heart-felt apology. My intentions were never to bring you any pain, nor even a moment of giddy-schoolgirlish embarassment. I was drunk and out of control and free from the shackles of compassion and consideration. For this selfish act I have established a measurable goal, upon the completion of which, I will have been absolved of the entire incident. Oh, if only this debt could be repaid by praying the rosary or shooting someone in the face. How easy that would be. No, I have a long road to tread, and the way is full of fright. Let me then think twice before applying the satire. Let my sarcasm fall by the wayside and clear the path of all debris. On my way to the house I will high-step no longer.
Handing the ball to the ref,
Rob

I still don't know what to say to that. I'm fat and stupid and undeserving of such attention. I think we all are. I think we all are.
You, Lalitree, on the other hand, are the famous one.
The amazing.
Even without meeting you, my breath has been taken away.

Er, is there something up with the forums? The dates skip around on this thread (and others) from late June to early August and back, and then the last two entires appear to be on the 11th, rather than the 21st, of September. Is anyone else seeing this?
