Re: Dexter, I kinda enjoyed it. Certainly second class nonsense but like pollo says a few decent performances. The woman who plays Debbie was actually pretty good, probably my favourite character over the course of the series. Those final two episodes though! Whaaaat and whooooaa, with a smattering of squifflebrows.

Been watching the last series of six feet under, never seen it before and I'm half way through right now.

MY GOD IS IT SPLENDID!

Seriously I gave up on this show in the third series 'cause it was getting stupid but this last series is awesome, it's hard to work out which Fisher to identify with most! each scene brings a new dimension to these beautiful beautiful shits.

I have talked about many times how the finale of that show had me in tears, but goddamn, you could not have ended that show in any other way. Fucking beautiful.

I'm 2/3 through the first DVD of Da Ali G Show. I know Wally hates it, and I can see the grounds for that, but I must admit, it can be pretty funny. Having now finally been exposed to the show, though, I'm not terribly inclined to give it my usual obsessive completist treatment. So my question is: are there any particular standout episodes I should track down, or having seen the first three, can I rest content knowing I've had da Ali G experience?

the one with him visiting the fbi was pretty classic. i'm actually a big fan of the interview he did on comic relief with posh spice and david beckham, too.

He has both an American and a British episode where he has a representative from the police anti-drug unit come in and give a speech about drugs. This, plus the Beckham interview, is more or less te sum of the Ali G legend.

Did you get it from Netflix? Are you the one keeping it at "long wait" at the top of my queue?  Evil or Very Mad

Nope, sorry. I just downloaded it instead. Apparently though all of America has been reading Dom and Andrew and Miles talk about the show because I had about 35 people ask me around the holidays for the boxsets, so it's one of them.

Man, my friend scored seasons 1 & 2 on xmas eve for 60bux! Total! And the fuckin' crook wasn't even considerate enough to pick up copies for me, even though I'm the one clued him into the show.
Much as I love HBO programming, I will never, EVER spend $90 on a DVD set. Srsly. People won't drop fifteen clams on a CD and HBO's pricing their DVDs at damn near a c-note? What the fuck?

yeah, i hear that, and they space out the episodes onto more dvds to make them more expensive. it's fucking ridiculous that a season of "the wire", with half as many episodes, will contain the same amount of dvd discs as a season of "veronica mars", and will furthermore retail for twice the price.

Andrew and GI, big ups for da Ali G comments--the Beckham interview is on YouTube, so I can now rest content knowing I've gotten what there is to get.

I'm in the middle of season 3 of The Wire, and I just saw the episode where Stringer Bell tells Avon that he had D'Angelo killed.  Damn!  BEST SHOW EVER!  I'm a little bit pissed, though, because I was at my mom's house, and she has cable, and just when I'm almost ready for season 4, it's no longer available on HBO on demand.  GRRR!

By the way when Tower was going to the dogs I kept on looking at the seasons of The Wire cause y'all are going apeshit over this and, well, damn.  Even 20% off didn't do much to help matters.  They didn't last long past that, though.

I'd like to say that despite my reluctance, I have developed a full-blown obsession with the American Office. I really didn't think it'd be this good, but it is. I've watched the entire run over the past week, and I'm chomping at the bit for more.

Jeb, didn't you used to sing the praises of this show?

Nah dude I only ever watched a couple of episodes

I've seen the whole first season but I thought it was kinda lame compared to the British version.  The other eps I've seen were pretty good though.  Maybe I'll DL that shi

The Wire s1 is NZ$40 - 5 DVDs - little more than the price of a CD here. Anyone want R4 copies?
