is the better design and Macs were the last outpost for that in consumer electronics, Intel-like chips are winning out only because so much more money has been invested in developing them than RISC chips.

Well, you know, this sits pretty close to my heart concidering that it's my career.
If you have to shift single bits around by hand for a living, it'll seem important to you as well.
