elementary questions from an elementary guitar player.  i have chosen to cover both songs live (along with last caress) next week.

1) is family happiness in an alternate tuning? would it sound retarded if i just started in E?

2) what note does quito start on?

(I'm pretty sure that Family Happiness is tuned in some wacky way; that's the excuse I've always heard for why it never gets played live.)

and yeah, that ain't no e. don't know about quito, can't recall right now.

As for Family Happiness, I've never tried to play it but I just put it on to listen to the guitar, and I'd guess that it's in DADGAD with a capo on the second fret.  So give that a try.
