I wouldn't want to see the fish that came out of it.
I do. All you'd need is a super-macro lens and some plastic army figures and you could make the ultimate low-budget monster flick.

It took me a few issues to realize that the Economist is dry, pedantic pap, but I'm the better for it now.
Same here. I think Homer summed it up the best: "I read the Economist on the plane over here. Did you know that Thailand is a crossroads?"

Ten Reasons Why Kranky Is The Most Important Label Of The 21st Century
1. Stars Of The Lid -
The Tired Sounds Of...
2. Stars Of The Lid -
And Their Refinement Of The Decline
3. Tim Hecker -
Harmony In Ultraviolet
4. Chihei Hatakeyama -
Minima Moralia
5. Charalambides -
A Vintage Burden
6. Benoit Pioulard -
Precis
7. Keith Fullerton Whitman -
Lisbon
8. The Dead Texan -
The Dead Texan
9. Christina Carter -
Electrice
10. Chris Herbert -
Mezzotint
This label is on an absolutely phenomenal streak of releases.
Has anyone heard the Growing album? I keep hearing it described with words like 'dark' and 'doom' and was wondering how it fits into the Kranky aesthetic.

Magazines I subscribe to for money:
1. Harper's
2. The Economist
3. Highlights
Man I'll bet you get all sorts of classy junkmail.
It took me a few issues to realize that the Economist is dry, pedantic pap, but I'm the better for it now.
I'll go with dry and pedantic, but pap is pushing it, methinks. I read it because
A)I like the awful cartoons
B)I enjoy their dry analysis but vehemently disagree w/ ALL of their viewpoints.
Also I don't subsribe to ANYTHING. But I do troll magazine stands so much I might as well be receiving that shit in the mail.

I disagree. Dry and analytic analysis holds no fear for me, but the Economist is nothing more than a statement of purpose put on loop. I've never actually learnt anything by reading it.
