Nah, it really don't matter. I was just skimming the thread, saw some pretty glaring mischaracterizations on both sides, then read a little more thoroughly & realized that some of the people getting all OOOOH abt deconstruction hadn't really read any, so no point in talking to them.

Also: deconstruction? It's 2006. Shldn't heads be getting pissed abt posthistoricism or something?

I only made it to page 6. Does anyone want to explain what purpose noticing the tension of Freud mentioning the Ta game more often than was needed has without applying it to his personal extra-textual life? I mean, isn't the whole thing just a fun puzzle? Was Derrida playing Sudoku with my diary? Was there a point to that?

That's where I realised that trying to explain complicated points from books half-remembered over the internet to a hostile crowd doesn't work very well. It's an example of tension in a text - leave it at that.
