A spin-off from the random thread, in which we discuss my personal favorite form of eating things.
I don't know what else to say to get the ball rolling, but I'd like BMC to talk more about the fried sweet potato sammy he was talking about in the other thread. Here's what we've got so far:
Quote from: "andronicus"
Quote from: "bmc"
Quote from: "El_Josharino"
That is nowhere near enough sandwich talk.
New favorite sandwich topping: Sweet potato, sliced thinly, salted, and fried.
I'm sorry, but this sounds MUCH more like a centerpiece of a sandwich. What centerpiece could top fried sweet potato? 1/4 pound of lard? That said, a fried sweet potato sandwich does sound quite good.
This may be because I come from the sandwich perspective of eating tomato sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, and cucumber sandwiches as a child. I still maintain that there really is little that can beat a tomato sandwich, gram for gram.

Also, Titus, I gotta ask: what's on your tomato sandwiches? I'm all about tomato. On the sandwich, I usually go with salt and a little mayo, possibly some basil or some dill.

Yes. I'm averse to salt as a rule, but other than this pretty much yeah.

Classic line from a friend of mine: "Did I ever tell you about that sandwich I once ate?"
It was a handful of Sour Patch Kids, smothered between two bagel chips. He was stoned. It was, regardless, delicious.

Once, when I was stoned, I decided to make a meta-sandwich. I'm really foppish and also silly when stoned.

My dad and I, one time, one summer, we built a veranda without any tools. Therefore, I should paint your chair. [/Gavin]

hannah, tell me some.
Also, my favorite sandwich ever is this vegetable one my step-mother taught me to make. It is cooked in the oven, it involves roasting garlic, IT IS THE BEST EVER.
EDIT ALSO HANNAH: why must you steal my heart with your references to tv shows?

I heard roasted garlic, and got a taste-boner. What else does this sandwich entail, titus?
Hey, can we get a "what what" for Friendly's Fishamajig? I'd never had it until I started dating Zeuglodon, but it's fucking DELICIOUS. Apparently, it's only ordered by her and septuagenarians.

I've eaten at least one bologna-and-ketchup sandwich a day for 90% of the days since I can remember.
I am also quite fond of the sandwich Cubano.
And El Gyro.
And pork roll! Pork roll and ketchup!
Wendy's chicken fillet sandwiches too.

One of my favorites is the Dewitt Melt from Collegetown Bagels in Ithaca - fresh bialy with homemade coleslaw, tomato and melted Swiss cheese.
(perhaps the aforementioned bmc can back me up on this one.)

It'd amuse me if someone walked into this thread and said "you know what I really don't like? sandwiches"

Well, pretty much you can put whatever vegetables you want, I like all kinds of stuff like eggplant and peppers, and red onions, and whatever I have in the crisper pretty much, also cheese of what type you prefer; you use french bread and toast it with some butter on it (I use ghee, but butter works good too). After cooking in oven, take the vegetable sandwich out, and put on some more butter if you want, spice to taste (pepper is good, also the red pepper flake things), and add the roasted garlic. I enjoy roasting the garlic the most, and squeezing the freshly roasted garlic out of their little pods. *squick*
Also, hannah. I don't even know what to say. I loled, but it was a lol of such profound lol-ness that I feel textual representation does not do it justice.

my sandwich experience will be tear free, so you know, because sandwiches open gates to realms of happiness that the unenlightened (read: you) can never know.
