OK, here goes.
Name:
Jim
Age:
34
Three Bands you like:
according to Audioscrobbler my top 3 (besides tMG) are The Fucking Champs, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and Blind Guardian, of all things.
Favorite movie:
Don't know that I can name just one; I'm not a discriminating fellow. I judge movies based on what I call the AWE scale--that stands for Ass-Whuppins and Explosions. (I say that, but I do require just the slightest bit of story to keep things interesting) Also, I don't go see movies in theaters very often. So how about I just mention one I rented and liked recently? How about Brotherhood of the Wolf?
Favorite book:
Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco.
Favorite comic strip:
Perry Bible Fellowship
Which goonie would you want to share a studio apartment with?
Shit I haven't seen that movie in what, 20 years almost. Um, Chunk, I guess, 'cause we'd keep the fridge well stocked.
Skills/hobbies:
(mediocre) multi-instrumentalist, homebrewing, network engineer, web developer, jack of many trades, master of few.
Sillls/hobbies you wish you had:
I wish I could throw down a little flashpot and disappear in a cloud of smoke like a ninja. I would use that skill every day. I'd do it in the middle of a conversation, not because I wasn't enjoying the conversation, but just to mystify somebody. I'd do it so often it would become commonplace and lose its magic, and when somebody new was around and I threw down my flashpot and disappeared in a cloud of smoke, and the new person goggled, the people who knew me would say "Oh, that's just Jim, ignore him and maybe he'll stop it."
Last CD you bought:
Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Was it good?
Fucking excellent.
Favorite poem:
Shakespeare's Sonnet 116:
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard this read at weddings and the like, mistaken for sappy lovey-dovey crap.
Best popsicle flavor:
blue raspberry
Favorite instrument:
I love the sound of the cello
Favorite word:
ridiculous. By frequency of use though, most likely a profanity of some kind, which is unfortunate.
Favorite word for kiss:
osculation, now there's a blast from the past (straight outta the thesaurus!)
Picture:
a recent one:

That is an awesome compliment (the sea captain part, I don't think looking like a writing professor does anything for you), and I hereby demand that from this point onward you all refer to me as a salty sea dog.
Also, justinh handled it, but chimay is a yummy yummy belgian ale. I was drinking that one to celebrate the successful conclusion of my brewing endeavors this last Saturday.

Michael, are you a super-intelligent indie-rocker cat with a refined British accent and a subscription to the New Yorker who is bent on world domination? Because that's awesome. My fiance's got a really nice tortoise-shell cat named Zoey, I think you two should hook up.

Andrew! Hi! Isn't it beautiful?
I gracefully fell into the metal doorway of a hotel elevator at just the right angle to impact my central lateral and cuspids into my face / sinus cavity! I am so awesome! They were able to extract my other teeth via my soft palate and wire them in place. Only my left central was shattered, hence my gap. Incredible!

If I could stop time I'd just play guitar non-stop for years (presuming the ability to stop time also stopped me from ageing) so that I could finally have satriani-esque skills on my axe. I would then use those skills to form the ultimate guitar masturbation band.
