The best one I'd heard in a while was one of my friends idea for a duo called "Youth and Asia".
There's a band from my neck of the woods called "Youth In Asia."

I can't imagine they are the only one.

This Too Shall Pass wouldn't actually be a good band name. Maybe for an album, or a song. I think it suits an EP just fine.

It'll be a huge hit with the Battlestar Galactica fans, since the initials spell "FRAKD" backwards.

I'm trying to figure out what the internet equivalent of knocking your books out of your hands and pushing you into the lockers would be.

i've always been partial to Failure to Thrive, even though that sounds more hardcore and angry than i would want my band to be, and for an album title

My ideal band name would be a reference to Gravity's Rainbow
The Sentimental Surrealists
First Degree Mopery
Mustaches of Epileptic Villains
The First International Runcible Spoon Fight

That is a winner.
We came up with the names either
Sponge Monkey or Sponge Bunny (I don't remember which). Found one of em in a record store the next week. I tell ya, all the good ones are taken (Except Moustaches of Epileptic Villains).

FlameHorse plays minimalist, psychedelic country music. Most of their songs are actually just a pedal steel, and a mandolin run through tons of effects pedals. The music is evocative of Appalachian caverns, filled with lonely rabid animals crunching into bones. Occasionally, the mandolin player howls. Not "howls" as a metaphor for "singing"; he like, actually
howls
-- long, sad stretches of O's and U's.
They also have a lead singer, but she only plays, like, every third show with them. Her name is Milligran, and she's this 60-something-year-old woman with long grey stringy hair and the tightest biceps you've ever seen on a senior citizen. Often, she'll play a snare drum that hangs from her shoulders, little-drummer-boy style. When she's not playing that, she just thrashes like a motherfucker. She sounds kinda like a cross between Janis Joplin and Joanna Newsom and Satan.

Greg Nog's instantly quotable quotation in the "Adios, Donnie 'Feld" thread ("I am turgid with joy....") suggests to me that there should be a band, somewhere, sometime, dubbed "Turgid with Joy," which is number one when it comes to joyful dirges.
