Is it just me or is State College the best represented city on this forum? Who's living there or going to school there now? Clearly, we should all meet in person in the fall. Also, if the editor of this forum were to, say, have a band, he should probably stop on by sometime and play for us.

I find this concept flabbergasting, because on the other forum I regularly post on I'm the ONLY resident of central PA.
Anyhow, I'm a graduate of PSU AND State High, and dangerously close to having a full-time job here.
Shout out to City Lights, where I'm headed now to hang out.

where were all of you wheni was there alone listening to the new tMG releases of the late 90s and scouring the used rack at City Lights for HOURS every week? MAN. I do miss City Lights, and the Daily Grind and a lot of other places in State College PA. Also, if anyone can find a way to overnight me some Golden Wok Cold Sesame noodles I'll be forever indebted to you. When i visited recently, I bought 4 orders of it and two orders of Broccoli and Bean Curd in garlic sauce and carefully brought them home, and ate them for a week straight. I realized that the one thing that i realized is how much better sc is with money. Somehow we managed to amuse ourselves for an entire summer with a long list of old movies and the 50 cent rentals at Mike's Movies on Calder way...i heard they raised the price though.
if i make it back i will try to meet up.

State College, right on. I just moved in this past May so I'm only beginning to be acquainted with the downtown area and I haven't even scratched the surface of campus yet. I live about 2 miles south of campus on Waupelani Dr and I work the front desk at the Ramada Inn on S. Atherton St. I'll be starting my junior year at PSU this fall if all goes according to plan. I'm definitely up for meeting anyone who may be using this forum, so get ahold of me through my profile. I think that a few of you are friends with Dan (aka Sashwap) no?
And sorry Missy, but as promised I'm still blaring my music as often as possible to represent.
We will take the world by storm.

The de-evolution of Mike's is so heartbreaking that I hesitate to describe it.

Indeed. The music stores out on Atherton are still pretty good, though. But City Lights wins out for not being a chain, for being essentially on campus, and for having a friendly (and awesome) staff.

City Lights - is that the name of the record shop that's underground on College Ave not too far from the HUB? I was in there a few times and was really impressed. There weren't any record shops like that in the areas I grew up, boonies and all - it's pretty much the kind of place I've been wishing I had near me so that I didn't have to make 80% of my purchases online. I've already spent quite a few hours in there even though I haven't had any extra money to spare in a while. I sense quite a few upcoming buys now that I have a decent job though.

Anthony, I've definitely seen you around, especially at City Lights. In fact, if I recall correctly, you were at the Rocket from the Crypt show in July '01, the first (and still best) Crowbar show I went to.

Well, I know there are two Mike's Music locations off campus. They may not both be on Atherton, though.
Aren't there? I could be crazy, I suppose.

The are indeed both on Atherton, but from what I hear, the Hills Plaza one is a movie-only location right now.
Now why the hell would you open something at Hills Plaza anyway?

Milwaukee has three people now (four if you include Port Washington) and soon we will overthrow you.

Hey kids,
I'm not from State College but rather the far greater Pennsylvanian city of Scranton. But I have been there a few times. Do any of you know the band Bullet Parade?

The Bullet Parade? The reason Roustabouts exist, pretty much? Yeah, I've heard of them. In fact, up until recently, a friend of mine from high school was their drummer. He left because they've been playing in New York a lot and he couldn't handle it.
As for Scranton, though I've never been there, I do have a few friends there.

I'll actually be DJing the Roustabout this Tuesday. A LeTigre-style electro trio called Fur Cups For Teeth will be the band.

I was to a Roustabout and the Bullet Parade played sometime this spring. I can't remember exactly when, but they played with the A-Sides. Yeah, they were really quality and nice.
P.S. agnamaracs-- who do you know in scranton? (it's a pretty small city)
