So they sounded good on SNL. I was a little surprised that they played "M79" instead of like "Mansard Roof" or "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" (obviously they couldn't play "Oxford Comma"). I guess they wanted to make use of the string section they drug along for both songs.
edit:
You can watch here:
http://jp917.blogspot.com/2008/03/vampire-weekend-on-snl.html
With Amy Adams for extra pollo-annoyance.

"M79" sounded especially nice. Thanks for posting!

I'm confused. Do you mean you literally
become
a vampire, or just that you're
really good at
being in downtown Santa Cruz?

Come ON. That is so clearly a Zombie Weekend.
Hey, so one of the people in this band is Iranian! And his last name is the same as that of the woman who wrote one of my favorite cookbooks which I am always promoting here, Silk Road Cooking. It's not a common last name -- her son, maybe?

I'm about to give it a listen on myspace. There is so much hype around this band that I expect it to be pretty awful.

but dude, that haircut 100 song is pretty good. i will admit that the horns don't always work, but structure-wise it's similar to stuff like aztec camera and orange juice, which was pretty good.

Haircut 100 is so underrated it's sick. In five years, they'll be in the same space as Scritti Politti and Orange Juice.
