My mom's homemade chicken noodle soup is the best sick food in the world.

That, and Chef Boyardee spaghetti and meatballs.

Uh...no, I'm not joking.

My well-making food of choice for actual health improvement is chicken soup with a couple of eggs cracked into it, and some leafy greens on the side.  And of course, lots of grapefruit juice, lots of water, lots of tea with honey.

When I'm feeling up to it, though, I make the sick-kid comfort food my mom used to make for me when I was a lad: a pita-pocket cut in half and buttered, then placed under the broiler until it's golden-brown.

I wanted to drink about a quart of OJ earlier today but the White Hen didn't have any OJ at all, not a single bottle.  I was sad.

Got some beef, got some Italian sausage, got some whole wheat noodles, got some tomatos, got some onions, got some spinach got some feta, got some provolone, got some mozzarella, got some parmesan, got it seasoned up real nice. Also got some garlic bread to go with it.

Maybe. I mean, there's also Lucy and Jim and maybe even Blucas to visit. How will I decide?

I am craving something that is not:
a) bread
b) peanut butter
c) tuna fish
d) bananas.

HOWEVER, this is the only food that I have, and I cannot buy any more food until at least tomorrow and possibly Thursday. Yes, this is approx. the 1700th I-am-super-fucking-poor-and-I-hate-it post. Yes there are people in like Sudan who do not even have bananas. Someone please mail me some pizza.

Somehow I got it into my head that tuna was super-expensive when I was a kid and even now when I see someone pigging out on tuna I'm all, 'who died and left you all their money?!'

OT: Holy Lord, I want a steak sandwich.  A home-made one.  On an onion bun.  With provelone.

Dun dun noodles with shredded chicken, from Mary Chung's restaurant up in Cambridge.

Sweet spicy peanutty Christ, how I would kill for a bowl of dun dun noodles right now.

It's on Mass Ave.  If you get a chance when you're up in the Northeast again, you should definitely check it out.  The dun dun noodles had been talked up to me quite a bit, so when I had the first bite, I was like, "Oh.  That's it?"

But they're ever so addictive.  Within about five minutes, I was ready to skin any living human in order to get more dun dun noodles.  My god, my god, they take over one's soul.

I've had "dan dan" noodles at a chinese shop here in the Chicago area and if they're at all similar, they use a lot of Szechuan peppercorns and are pretty spicy, so you know, just be sure that you want something pretty damn spicy before you order it.

We ate lunch at a Szechuan restaurant yesterday, had 3-chili chicken and spicy double-fried pork with cilantro and also some beef with peapods so as to have something not so spicy for the youngest.  Man I dig some Szechuan food.

That place is like five minutes from my apartment, and yes, they are awesome. I admit to questioning your recommendation at first when trying them, because the excellence does indeed take a little while to kick in, but it does. The rest of the food there is pretty good too, actually, and they win extra points for having place settings with chopsticks as the default.

Edit: Now I want some too. Maybe I will go get them, ha.

Except apparently they are closed on Tuesdays? Who does that? Dammit.

Right about now, I wish I had a giant cheesburger, like the size of my head.  With blue cheese and mushrooms and bacon.

I'm craving a chicken sandwich from Chik-Fil-A right now.  I've never had one;  people just say they're really good and without any personal experience my imagination runs wild.
