Then you wrote spinakopita.

MADE FROM SPINES

Oh snap!

Ok, cool, I can get behind vegetarianism, mostly because the idea of eating animals freaks me out a lot (though I still do it).  I don't really like it that people who eat any kind of meat get all preachy about other cultures eating other kinds of meat, though.  "Oh my god, they eat guinea pig in Ecuador?  BARBARIANS!"

Edit: I understand that it might be emotionally difficult to eat an animal similar to one you've kept as a companion (dog or cat or whatever), but I don't see how any sort of morals can be brought into it at all.  Y'know.

Yeah, I mean, the vegetarianism thing is really actually secondary for me in this case, 'cause I have a sort of knee-jerk reaction to the eating of dogs, 'cause to me that's basically like saying, "so I ate some children last night ..."

But I do realize that's a knee-jerk reaction and it's not an issue of morality so much as just ... I love my pets like children!

And obvs vegetarianism is an important part of my life, and it has been for seven years now (and if anything I find that my resolve only grows stronger as time goes on)

(except i do eat fish on occasion.  so maybe it actually doesnt.)

(I eat fish too, but I have not knowingly eaten any other kind of meat for twelve years)
(except you know ground-up rats in Snickers bars and bugs in ketchup)
(but I still regret my decision somewhat every goddamn time I see that movie)

Oh man I don't know that it belongs in this thread but I think I was posting in this thread but I just got back from the Taste and I had jerk chicken w/ red beans & rice and sauteed goat w/ plantains and jibaritos (a steak sandwich w/ garlic sauce only instead of bread the steak is between two squashed & fried plantains) and I don't know what it was called but it was a deep-fried banana dumpling stuffed with some kind of seasoned pork.  I ate way too much but it was good.  And I only hit like 2 places.

crissee I think they're called pescetarians but I don't know for sure.

jeb's into vore, though.

I've never had Qdoba!  As a big fan of such shitty large-chain Mexican food as Taco Bell, might I enjoy this?

I've never had it. My experience in shitty fast-food Mexican food is basically 10 soft tacos at Taco Bell in one sitting, numerous numerous times.

It depends on your feelings about cilantro. I think they were debating it in the photo thread. I fucking hate cilantro and the taste of everything there is tainted by it.

It's not really anything like Taco Bell.  I mean, I'm pretty sure they serve actual food at Qdoba.

if you don't have the gene, like nny, jeb, and plainenglish, that makes you think cilantro tastes like soap, then yeah, you should really really love it. i was a lifelong taco bell fan, and upon discovering qdoba i was overjoyed. it was like a middle way--not as cheap or as obviously garbage-y as taco bell, but also not like going to actual mexican restaurants, where i invariably learn that the sort of mexican food i've grown up enjoying is ERSATZ and that REAL mexican food isn't all that great. so yeah, qdoba is ideal if you ask me.

I used to have that gene, but then I got over it.  I now adore cilantro.

This has nothing to do with what I'm craving, 'cause I'm certainly not craving it, but I ate jellyfish the other night!  That's right, I said it, jellyfish!  Also I ate eel for the first time in my life, but I couldn't bring myself to eat the tiny little perfectly intact squid that made up one of the side dishes.  Oh, I also tried some weird kind of shellfish!  It was really chewy and unpleasant.

Uh, I also ate dog soup a couple of weeks ago.

Man, Korea, what are you doing to me?

Breaking your will to ever enjoy food again.  Was the squid alive?  It tastes best when it's still alive, you know.  Fresh.   Beyond fresh, even.

Eh, I had dog once.  Meat was tough and I didn't think it tasted quite right.  I also had some strange cat stew when I was visiting friends in Vietnam.  I'm not sure what it tasted like, since it was heavily covered in spices.  All things considered, though, it was pretty good.

I once ate a live scorpion at a friend's wedding.  That was... interesting.

I did mention that I'm Asian, yes?

All that said, I kind of want a grilled cheese sandwich.  Cheddar, preferably, on something heavy--like challah.  And soup.  Soup would be good.  Some type of soup without meat in it.  Oh, and prawn crackers and sweetened fried seaweed.  Because I'm Asian, you see.

i'm not sure what i'm craving.

fridays are usually nacho night, but i'm not sure if i'm into it tonight. i think i need to find someone to go to a bar with food. i want beer and french fries.

i eat healthy every other meal of the week, so i need to find something to hurt my belly and clog my arteries tonight.
