yeah, that does sound cool. also, i can totally understand trying to run a progressively political bookstore on a shoestring budget and getting volunteers to help out. i'm sure that's how my friends and i will be operating the venue we're opening up, at least at first.

My Most Quoted Moe Syzlack Lines, all from memory and thus probably Inaccurate:
-I was born a snake handler, and I'll die a snake handler.
-And that's how, with a few simple modifications, you can make five guns into one gun.
-It's like my Dad always said: sooner or later, everybody gets shot.
-Aww, you got the stink lines comin' off me and everything.
-So, you guys are Eurotrash, huh? ... How's that workin' out for you?

What was yr screen issue, Mike? I noticed these tiny little specks on my screen in the first week I had it, but I've yet to take it to the Apple store because it's a huge pain in the ass to get up there. It's still under warranty; you think if I went in there and complained they might do something for me?
Also my mouse button's been a little unresponsive lately.

I got the widely reported, well known line issue where there's a line (sometimes many) that pops up on your screen. It's a fault in the screen and they should fix it for you.

I'm reviving this thread to post a list of food items that I just unpacked because my mother, father or grandmother gave them to me to take back when I was visiting this weekend:
- leftover dinner from yesterday, made by my mother
- lots and lots of bacon and sausages, from an organic farmer (and sort-of butcher, but he only processes his own meats and sells them only at his farm and sometimes at farmers' markets, not in retail) near my grandparents' place
- a bag of walnuts from our garden
- a bag of chestnuts (the edible kind) from the forest in the town where my grandparents live
- a glass of honey made by an acquaintance (or rather, his bees)
- a glass of ghee made by my mother
- some herbal tea mixed (and at least partly grown and harvested) by my mother
- some cookies made by my grandmother
- a nut strudel purchased by my mother
- some yellow carrots purchased by my mother (this is the funniest one, I think, but it
is
true that I've never seen them around here and do miss them)
I think I'll be settled for a while...

And here I thought ghee came from cow's milk.

I would think that you can make it from any type of milk, including human breast milk.
(Yeah, alright, so she only did the last step of the ghee-making process herself.)

A Very Brief List Of Things That 9th Graders Know About That I Was Kind Of Shocked 9th Graders Know About As A Result Of Talking To My Sister Who Is Teaching 9th Grade Civics This Year:
1. teabagging (they had a tea party to celebrate the birth of the constitution or some shit and one kid put a teabag on another kid's head and the entire class thought it was hilarious when my sister told the kid to get the teabag off his classmate's head)
2. supermanning that ho (she has to do a skit in front of the whole school for Homecoming week and has chosen the Soulja Boy Dance, and the best part is that
the results will be on Youtube
)
An Even Briefer List Of Things That I Do Not Know That My Sister Is Making Her 9th Graders Learn:
1. all of the answers to the U.S. Citizenship Exam

That's pretty awesome. I don't even know what's on that exam, much less the answers.

Dude, they're pretty easy. They're the kind of things that 9th grade government/history classes should be doin' anyhow.
The only one I wouldn't have known is this

What Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) form is used to apply to become a naturalized citizen?
That's the dumbest question ever. I guess it's just a gotcha to make sure you filled out the form yourself?

I couldn't name the 13 original states and also I briefly forgot that the executive branch was in fact called the executive branch and not the presidential branch. lulz I are American.
And my thing was even though they only give you 20 questions on the actual exam, you have to have one hundred answers memorized, and like, I was crap at taking tests and have been my whole life, which is why I went to a state school that is commonly derided in Wisconsin as a commuter school.

Yeah, and some of them are really stupid, 'cause they're subjective. "What's the most important right?"
What? I'm not even sure the franchise would make my top five.
It reminds me of when Apu is taking the test and gives a complicated answer to "What caused the Civil War?"
"(Sigh) Just say slavery."

Is your sister deporting her students? Cos I'm pretty sure that's not allowed.

No dude on the real citizenship test.
although I think she is either failing her students if they get one wrong or stressing the importance to them that you fail in real life if you get one wrong. I think it is more of an exercise than a test that has weight on their grades for the semester.
