board photos: building america one 3x5 at a time

I ate some mushrooms the other day, and put this green ball in a bush and stared at it for about 40 minutes. Then I took a picture of it.
If anyone has any better ideas for a thread title that doesn't involve lumber jokes, let me know.

Hungry Hungry Hippos!
Sorry, not having a camera I don't have that many pictures of exciting things that aren't me, and all the ones I have come from those kinds of people who take photos constantly at parties (who I have a certain respect for, I'd be doing that if I had one).

One of my co-workers picked up this processed chocolate cheese at the store a couple of weeks ago:
I have to be honest, the stuff's definitely not all that edible. Pretty hilarious, though! It tasted a tiny bit like chocolate, with a weird processed cheese aftertaste. The texture was pretty horrible, too.
Also, I went to a neighbourhood called Yeoido on Sunday. The bathroom in the subway station had this sign hanging proudly right outside of the doors:
It was fairly nice inside, especially for a subway bathroom, but it was pretty smelly and there was no toilet paper in the stalls. Also, one of the toilets was a squatter. That is not my idea of a great bathroom, really. Meh.

my browser won't let me see the thread's inaugoral picture but the description, i'm sure, will suffice. good work.

Yeah, that was basically my line of thinking when I decided to eat a slice. Then I ate a slice. And it was gross.

There's a place in South Carolina called Surfside Beach, and they have an arcade, and that arcade has a huge Hungry, Hungry Hippos that you stand up to play. It's amazing.

processed cheese usually tastes less ass-like when melted on food. like a slice of american on a burger.
i think you need to make chocolate nachos or something.

Minus the first clause, that's pretty much what I thought, too. But my version was more along the lines of "that is THE GREATEST FUCKING IDEA and the kind of thing i can only imagine coming from the midwest"

This is true in my experience. People love processed stuff here.

I grew up on Velveeta in Iowa. I have vowed never to touch the stuff again.
And yes, that does sound like a very midwestern thing. The only thing that would make it more midwestern is if there was Jello involved.

Man, if there is one thing I love almost as much as real cheese, it is fake cheese.

Try saying that after growing up on mac'n'cheese that your mom makes from scratch (seriously, she started with a roux), but somehow uses Velveeta, instead of real cheese, especially when you're maybe 20 minutes from the kind of places where the cow gets milked and the cheese gets sold without ever leaving the premises. Try eating fresh cheese curds, then choking down the Velveeta mess your mother just spent like 20 or 30 minutes slaving over. Once I grew up and made my own mac'n'cheese from scratch, using real cheese (though not as good as it would have been back home), I could have slapped my mother for her Velveeta transgressions. But despite our being directly across the river from Wisconsin, land of delicious cheese, my mother was a Velveeta devotee. She grew up in Wisconsin! Both my parents did! My dad doesn't even like cheese! I've moved as far from them and their sins as possible.
