hahaha that's probably true.

I just called my comic shop guy and he's going to throw the first one in my box. I saw them all there before.

Which guy is your guy?  Do you go to Dark Tower?  I think I'm gonna stop by there on my way home and check out some trades.  I stopped yesterday but I guess they're closed on Mondays

Yeah, that's where I've gone for a few years.

I've only been in there a couple of times but it's a cool little shop and the dude seems pretty cool too.

I bought a Hellblazer trade collecting a story arc by Warren Ellis called Haunted.  I read it as soon as I got home and it was pretty great actually.  DCDave, there were 3 Carey trades and I looked at them too but the Ellis one just seemed like a story I'd enjoy more.  And like I said, I really did.

I mean, you can't go wrong with Warren Ellis.

At our comic shop we do "Warren Ellis impressions" that are actually Rick James impressions except we describe things that we would do if we were Rick James but had Warren Ellis' life.

"I'm Warren Ellis, bitch!" is a frequent rejoinder.

For those who haven't heard it, Warren Ellis, live at Paradise Comics Toronto: "Alan Moore on the Phone"

Oh hey, so Scott Pilgrim Volume 4 is just as good as the previous three.  My only complaint is probably that Wallace is suddenly calling people "Guy" all the time; aside from that, the book is just lovely.

Also I dig that there's a poster hanging behind him to advertise his foray into pornography

I bought this comic called Mouse Guard b/c of a drawing of a mouse riding a rabbit  on the back page, but the comic was not so much to my liking. Too much talk of elixir and summits.
But I was reading in Decibel magazine that the comic called "Black Metal" by Rick Spears and Chuck BB is very good. Do any more experienced comic readers know if this is true? It looks good, but I cannot be spending my cash on duds after this Mouse Guard fiasco.

My roommate got that comic.  I was like, "Oh, this looks beautifully-drawn and super cool!"  And then I read the first issue, and I was like, "Oh."

Hey but seriously people, Scott Pilgrim.  I don't want to give anything away, but Scott accrues mad experience points.

I saw this linked on Reason by our very own Brian Doherty: The 40 Worst Rob Liefeld Drawings. It's good for a laugh.

I laughed out loud more than once. I remember so many kids reading Youngblood when I was 12 or 13.

Amazing. I'm just bummed that he missed the #1 most egregious Liefeld of all time:

you know, i liked the body of that article a lot, and it always pleases me to see people bashing liefeld's drawings, as they, um, FUCKING SUCK, but the intro bugged me a bit. anytime anyone starts talking about the "loss of innocence" in comics, and especially when they start complaining about writers and artists leaving the big two and their 50-year old characters to work on new characters that they've created themselves, i get really irritated. ok, so maybe some people are a bit too self-consciously dark, but still, i feel like that intro was a hairbreadth away from the superhero fanboys who feel like comics should continue to be superhero-centered cheesefests forever. fuck that mentality.

Guys I have a secret I used to be such an Image fan boy and I loved Rob Liefield and I think the reason I can't draw for shit any more is because I always drew like him and now it's fucked me up forever
