This old record store nearby is closing and all the used cd's are being sold for next to nothing so I cleaned up:
Bonnie Prince Billy- Ease Down the Road- I've never heard anything other than ISAD so I assumed this was good
Beulah- When Your Heartstrings Break- Maybe my fav indie poppers
Sunset Rubdown- Shut Up I Am Dreaming- I like Krug enough
Albert Ayler- Spiritual Unity- Always heard good things about this
Explosions in the Sky- The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place- I've never given them a fair chance
Beach House- s/t- Loved them live
Bob Dylan- The Times They Are a Changin- Didn't own this yet
GY!BE- F#A#- Love them, but never heard this
Clogs- Lantern- I saw them live last year and loved them
PB&J- Writer's Block- I need more upbeat music
Notwist- Neon Golden- Fantastic
Jens Lekman- Night Falls Over Kortedala- He makes me happy
A Silver Mt Zion- He has left us Alone....- GYBE side project that I've never heard
The Smiths-s/t- Why didn't I own this
Vetiver- s/t- I'm guessing I'll like this
Joanna Newsom- Walnut Whales EP- I liked MEM a lot
Vandaveer- Grace & Speed- This guy needs to be more popular
Bowerbirds- Hymn For a Dark Horse- John says this is good

i wasnt going to buy the deluxe edition of the Coheed album, but the nondeluxe version comes in a shitty paper sleeve like a promo. some bullshit right there. also the cover of the deluxe digipak is nicely adorned with a giant parental advisory sticker, and since its a digipak its there forever basically. fucked either way you go :P
whatever at least the album is sweet so far.

so i'm not gonna try and stay up to date about everything i've bought recently but i just have to come in and say that all you dudes going wild about dizzee rascal and the uk scene etc whatever should do your best to get hold of
Axiom EP
by durrty goodz. this may be old news but as i haven't seen any threads titled "oh my fucking god the axiom e.p. is the best grime cd i have heard in my life" i thought it was worth mentioning, because i'm sure it would provoke that reaction in at least some among you.
this whole post carries a disclaimer that i know absolutely nothing about hip hop or grime. i am that guy who owns only the hip hop discs that the mainstream rock media tell me to buy. but seriously.

reading the book for the first time now, and i got through 80 pages last night in one brief sitting. dude's a much better writer than i had assumed. i'm really digging it...don't know why it took me this long.
into the wild
has been on my radar since my first bookstore job in the mid-90s.

A Broken Consort "Box of Birch" (cd - 2nd ed.)
A Broken Consort
(a.k.a. Richard Skelton) delivers a beautiful multi-layered work of accordion drones, strings, etc that makes your living room come alive. I cannot recommend this release enough if you’re into ambient/drones/etc.
I've had this for about a week now and I concur. (I'll try to give a more in-depth report when I finally get around to replying to your message, sorry...)
I also received these the other day:
James Blackshaw - The Cloud of Unknowing / Glenn Jones - Against Which the Sea Continually Beats / Keith Rowe - The Room
The James Blackshaw album was another much-needed and long overdue upgrade from mp3, so there's little surprise about its brilliance. I've given one and a half listens to the Glenn Jones album so far, it's sounding great and has some of the most entertaining linernotes I've read in a long time. Haven't heard the Rowe album yet.

I picked up a few things in Milwaukee at Bullseye Records, which is pretty good store if you're into cheap vinyl.

If you're worried about the pic, quoting it probably isn't the best response.

New vinyl in the post:
The Shanks - Big Feelin' 7"
CPC Gangbangs - Broken Glass/Rich Rich Rich picture disc 7"
The Spread Eagles - Don't Talk To The Narc 7"
The Fatals - Stereo-No-Phonic 7"
The CPC Gangbangs picture is super-very-cool looking. I can't find a picture on the web though.

Freddie Hubbard - Hub-Tones
Grant Green - Green Street
Jimmy Smith - Groovin' at Smalls' Paradise
This is my first installation to get albums by all the artist namedropped on Jazz Cats pt. 1 by Quasimoto. I already got Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Sun Ra, Cannonball Adderlay, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, Dizzy Gillespie and Chick Corea (although he was actually mentioned in Loop Digga along with Grant Green). After 3 listens, Hub-Tones is already one of my favorite jazz albums.
