If they mention a video calendar during the interview, best to walk away.

so, um, as of next Monday I am gainfully employed. while there are many things about working I am not looking forward to, on the whole the prospect makes me happy.
PS: interview tip #43: listening to R. Kelly on the way to the interview will help you not to take yourself too seriously.

OH MY GOD IT IS FUCKING GORGEOUS OUTSIDE
In addition, I just looked at the ten-day forecast, and it looks like for the foreseeable future, temperatures are gonna be hovering around the low seventies. Our long national nightmare that is called "Summer" is finally over. Long live Fall!
Also, congrats on the job, miles! Are you back in New York for reals now? If so, we should celebrate your good fortune! I will cook something!
THE WEATHER IS COOL ENOUGH THAT I MAY USE MY OVEN AGAIN, FUCK YEAH

The weather has been so freaking nice here for the last week now. I just went for a walk and it was awesome. I'm probably going to walk some more later.

yes! I am back! and if I can get my house sorted, maybe I will have some kind of house-returning-warming type thing...

The weather is getting nice here. It's cooling down at night, which means the beginning of the end of summer has started!

Mmm... Sushi.
Also, I decided that instead of trying to get some work done tonight, I'm going to get drunk and go to bed early.

I'm feeling cheerful at work for pretty much the first time this week.

That's funny. At my office, I'm the closest person to the break room, so I usually end up refilling the water cooler and remaking the coffee, but it's not in my job description.
And speaking of work, I called in for an unscheduled vacation day! Today I'm free! I'm gonna go hiking and go out for lunch and clean my apartment.

I like refilling the water-cooler, because it makes me feel useful in a concrete way that sending out e-mails and scheduling things does not.

Under Health & Safety legislation here, you are entitled to refuse to do such things if you think the load is too heavy. There's no weight limit- it's your decision. 50 years ago, the weight limit for men was 20 stone (280 lbs. / c.127 kilos), and you could be fired for refusing to lift anything under the threshold. Aah, the good old days.
OT: This evening, if I get out of work in reasonable time (it's already 10 minutes after going home time and I'm showing no signs of leaving, alas) I'm going to one of my favourite pubs, which has recently reopened after a refurb/extension but which has sensibly changed virtually nothing inside except the carpets and upholstery. Welcome back, Peter's Pub. I've missed you.

that
makes...
Who knew that you needed to eat and get sleep in order to not be a grumpy fuck?

Yeah. We've been here for a week but she and I both went back to work like 3 hours after we moved in so there wasn't much time for getting an internet set up. All I've got to say is this fucking couch isn't going anywhere without at least a 3-man team. Hauling it up three flights of stairs by myself was more of a pain in the ass than could possibly be soothed by those soft microfiber cushions.

but yay internets
I want to hang out with Chicago peeps but I am broke and also I hate my job (I think I work at the busiest retail establishment in The Loop, maybe) so give me/us some time to settle and we will drink beers, soon.
