So Governor Schwarzenegger, having already called California Democrats "girly men," now compares state Republicans to what the LA Times paraphrases as "an obese person in denial." This guy has a way with words, alright.

i haven't read the link yet. did he say they were secret fatties? all taking pictures of themselves for their myspace pages by holding the camera over their heads and looking up at it?

someone photoshop larry craig's head on a myspace webcam pic, stat.

for what its worth, I totally thought andrew asked to have craig's head photoshopped onto HIS myspace webcam pic.
that is
"someone photoshop larry craig's head on my myspace webcam pic, stat

that wouldn't actually work, for there's nothing secret about my fatness, if my myspace pics are any indication.

tomorrow is No Car day in Amsterdam.  they are considering a sliding tax on cars based on how much they pollute.  that's interesting.

Did anyone see San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders' press conference in which he unexpectedly came out in support of gay marriage rights? I was impressed; my hatred of Republicans is usually categorical in nature, and it still is, but when a brief moment of humanity flickers through their huge wall of intolerance, it is something to value.

Yeah, but you have to remember that half of the Netherlands will soon be underwater. Personally, I'd rather live in Denmark, which, I believe, is not only the happiest country in the world, but also the one which consumes the most candy per capita. Coincidence? I think not.

It's one of those stories that just makes you sick the more you read into it. I think "this is youtube material" might be one of the sickest things I've heard this year.

also came across some odd Manilowian news last week:
Ft. Lupton Judge Punishes Violators With Manilow
http://cbs4denver.com/local/local_story_258183427.html

But Barry's also in the news for this, which I thought was pretty rad:

Denmark maintains that happiness by being, as near as I can reckon, the most notoriously and openly xenophobic country in Europe. And they've got competition.

Seriously? In what ways? I know things are kind of provincial in Europe, but I didn't think xenophobia was that big of a problem, at least not compared to over here.

What do you mean by "kind of provincial"? Also, yeah, xenophobia is a huge problem in many/most European countries.

did anybody see that jason jones segment on denmark (in the wake of that muhammad cartoon furor) last year on the daily show?  it was hilarious.   my two favorite parts were when he's asking for someone that speaks english and this danish women comes up 'i speak english' and he totally treats her like she's speaking babble.  and then when he walks into a middle-eastern restaurant waving american flags and saying to the workers 'i'm with you guys'.  funny stuff.

Marcel Marceau died. Although people love to shit on the art of mime, the man was pretty badass.
