Got the dual-feed (walking foot) mounted to my sewing machine OH YES it is so very good. Finished the dresses for HT's little friends, now making them coordinating crayon holders with quilted covers from the leftover fabric. Will have a little slot for a wee coloring book!

That is perhaps the cutest thing I've ever heard of, Bernard.

Less cute: I finished my animation of the man shooting a judge with his penis (in the end, he turns into a penis, because that's all I could handle). It's for a documentary a friend of mine is making—about an Iowa man who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for not disclosing his HIV status to a sexual partner. The judge who sentenced him said, "You don't look like most of our criminals that sit here, but the risk is still there, just like if you would have shot a gun."

Anyhow, here's all 25 NSFW seconds of it:

I am drawing a comic book! So far it's going pretty well. And while the last thing the world needs another semi-autobiographical comic about some white dude's childhood, I am having tons of fun, and it feels good to be working on something. Maybe I'll post some of it here when more is done.

PS inking hurts my fingers

Hm, so the design leaves something to be desired.

Namely, about another two inches of fabric.

Drawings by MC and HH (not pictured here).

Ha! Those are great. Coldie had me coveting some pocket squares for my wedding; I'd love to find something with a similar pattern.

fabric.com, I have coupons, and I'm pretty sure I could sew credible pocket squares. Wedding present?

Bernard, those are beautiful.  sometime I will dig up a photo of me and my best friend in the matching kuspuks her mom made us, circa 1st grade.

All of those things are really adorable, Bernard!! The dresses' bias tape ties remind me of this bag which is easy to make (and perhaps scale down to accessorize cute dresses!)

Having a slight drug problem here. Drug in question is fabric. Um. I would have to sew every day for like a year to get through all this. Am considering just making bigger stuff. Kind of get the shakes if I go a week without looking at fabric, by which I mean buying. Trying to rationalize -- I only spent $30, got 20% off, shipping was free, etc. etc.

But if you have kids, good things can come of it! When I was 20 my uncle remarried, and my mum made me a dress to wear to his wedding from some fabric that she'd bought when I was in utero. It was really cool!

It is both a blessing and a total nightmare. My mother still has a wardrobe filled with bags and boxes of fabric, many of whose contents she has had since before I was born. And that's the pared down collection: it used to be almost a whole room.
She says she has recurring wonderful dreams of going into a house which is full of chests and lockers and cupboards full of reams of fabric.

Yeah, look, my mum's a dreadful hoarder, and I'm not looking forward to having to deal with it all one day. I'm not much better either, and then there's my dad...but this dress was an awesome thing. (except it doesn't fit me now...)

I am terrified of the stash-mutating-into-illness-hoarding-problem so I do rounds of de-stashing every so often. "Do I use this? Will I soon?" If the answer is no, it goes. There is still SO MUCH. I've mostly forbid myself from buying anything new unless it's absolutely needed (there is never enough black thread and heavy stabilizer around). I've curbed the cute printed fabric thing by limiting purchases to fat quarters unless there is a specific application in mind.

The worst thing right now is not all the stuff I have, but all the unfinished things, because I always just tack them on the wall so they stare at me until I am shamed into getting to work. Lots of eyes on me right now. :/

I am also worried about hoarding, and yet I look at old family photos and yet I would love to have some of the clothes my grandma made.

Did this top as practice for a sew-along. Came together easily & quickly. Now working on the second one and it's torture. Maybe because I am now having to sew standing up (couldn't colonize the dining table any longer). Sewing standing up fucking hurts!
