Not to get El_Josho's underpants all messy, but there have been mumblings of an Esau reunion show.  Esau was my "Post-ambient doom jazzcore" band (Boring slow metal to some/many of you good folks) and I might say we were pretty durn good.  The break-up happened messily and disgustingly last May, when our drummer became engaged to a pile of bridge scum.  He had been dating her for a couple years and she always hated us as well as fun and dreams, but he got himself engaged, and then didn't tell us, and when he realized we found out and were unhappy about it he stopped talking to us.  Time has since done what healing it could do, and everyone is on speaking terms, but things are still awkward at best.  We all miss it though, including drummer...this we know.

A band-friend's band from Jersey is coming through Omaha next March (Day Without Dawn, formerly the Postman Syndrome).  They asked us if we would be willing to open for them on one or more shows on their tour.  Guitarists and bassist are a resounding and excited (but nervous) "yes."  As far as I know, drummer has not been contacted yet.  It really relies upon his willingness and attitude.  These things have not been reliable in the past.  Thus I am uncertain.  Cautiously optimistic, but Jesus I am uncertain.  I hope things work out...I'm listening to our one recording of this stuff and its got my balls all sweaty.

Isn't there a thread somewhere in ITE for forum-members music?  I could maybe fix up some YSIs if anybody would be interested...

Hey Aug, while you're at it, do you have any of that Manticore stuff besides what's on the album? Like those two songs I was on? I want to have them.

I'm sorry brother but you will probably have to get those from Kent.  I do not even have Marriage to the Green Queen on my computer.  I think Kent is the only one who has any Manticore stuff beyond Marriage.

Yeah, jeb, there is much hollering.  Drummer was also lead vocalist, and he had some real satan in him when he would scream.

I will try to upload the Esau songs tonight.

haha oh fuck.  of course.

EDIT: I am uploading songs right now and will post them in "Screamin at a mic" tonight but my slow ass internet is taking awhile.  Also, word is that drummer is "totally down" which means in drummer's language, "YOU NEVER KNOW" so uncertainty still exists but at least he didn't outright say nah thanks.

He did say he though he may have deleted a bunch of his keyboard patches that we relied heavily on so we're kinda biting our fingernails on that one, too.

No shit, man.  No shit.

I know I have this all over the internet now but for the time being keep it on the d/l amongst our circle, Big Aug.  Nothing's for certain and uproars and hoopla amongst the good folks would be annoying as shit right now.

No problem. I don't hear much from many people (except for probably eric and ben) these days anyway, since I don't live in the same city as them anymore.

So good ol' Humboldt Liquors covered up their paint-on-brick sign with a fancy awning that says "The Music Lounge," removed the old wooden bar and replaced it with a shiny marble one, put in a bunch of nice furniture, and now have a giant flatscreen TV.  They got rid of all their 40s and now have a bunch of imports/microbrews.  What have ye wrought, anti-smoking laws?

The funny thing is that it's still the same 10 middle-aged Puerto Rican guys in there every night.

that's kinda awesome.

You should slyly mention to them that they can bypass those smoking laws by becoming a private club with a $1 lifetime membership.  Bodega and missoula did it.  Found itself a nice little niche as the only smoking bar in town.  (ben has his picture with the governor with there arms around each other at ho dega

this reminds me of what happened when the working class redneck neighborhood south of the college campus in richmond started to gentrify and get invaded by college kids, and somebody bought the neighborhood watering hole "the chuck wagon", remodeled it, and turned it into "the hollywood grill". it was supposed to become the big new punk-rocker bar, but it totally didn't work, and the same redneck guys that drank there before continued to be the main source of clientele.

now, 3 years later, the hollywood grill is for sale on craigslist.

I'm quite uncertain about when to call off looking for a room and settle on one I've already seen - uncertainty about various aspects of each of them, mixed with paranoia that the ones I could still look at would be less good and that I might miss out on a superior one I've already seen by waiting too long to make up my mind.

Which is to say: I have a couple of appointments lined up for other rooms/appartments still, but really I doubt they'll be better than the one I looked at today and I think I'ma just call them off and settle on this one first thing tomorrow morning. But: uncertainty!

Also I worry that the only reason I like this one so much is that it (as in: the shared kitchen) does not only have normal gas cooking plates on the oven, but a seperate mould to put a wok in. That shouldn't be the deciding factor now, should it? I mean, ideally, I should have maybe paid more attention to how much sunlight there was (umm, don't know) or something, not to the wok thingy, I guess. I think it comes down to the fact that I don't like decisionmaking.

I wonder if, after exams are over and I'm finally able to relax a bit, I won't feel like such an over-tired, resentful, quivering, teary-eyed, frightened piece of shit that just wants to go fetal and be held...

guys, i'm not at all sure whether i like having a check card or not. just now i was thinking about how my external hard drive is filling up, and that i need to get another one. so i went to newegg.com, found a 250gb external hard drive selling for $70, and ordered it. that's awesome in two ways: easy access to thing i want, rather than having to go to a store and hunt around, and also, an excellent deal that i couldn't get anywhere other than the internet.

on the other hand, i just spent $70 at the drop of a hat. i don't know about all this.

The one thing you won't like about a check card is: OVERDRAFT FEES. Be careful, dude.

I was approved this month for a $500 line of credit on my checking account, which is the closest thing I have ever come to having a credit card and also prevented my rent check from bouncing this month. It is awesome.
