Uncertainty:
One of my friends just found out her father has incurable lung cancer. Her father who molested her. It's a very uncertain feeling for her.

Seriously. She was going back and forth between joking and laughing and sobbing.

She also found this out on the heels of deciding to leave her husband for awhile, which is another thing she's really confused about. Things are kind of awful and also kind of great for her right now. Because she loves her husband and wants to work things out, but she also needs to get out and get away for awhile and find out what she needs when she doesn't have to constantly care for him, just really get kind of a vacation from his inability to take care of or make decisions for himself, and she's looking forward to that as much as she's upset. It's really odd times.

more confusing than uncertainty, but like half a dozen people I don't know have waved at me today. I think I have a doppleganger on the loose or something. someone else just did it again. weird.

One of the people in my department is working on a project involving people waving, but she's having trouble getting people to wave. Perhaps you could share some secrets of being waved at?

Part of me wants to continue cleaning--the kitchen and bathroom are in dire need of it, and in contrast to my usual motivation of pleasing my lady, I actually want to get this shit in order--but then part of me wants to go hit a 1:30 matinee of
No Country for Old Men
. I'm pretty torn on this one, though cleaning does have a slight edge, I think.

Do I go to a coffee shop and get work done, or do I curl up in bed?

Hannah, both options are excellent. Hoop Dreams is quite long though. And I really want to hear what you have to say about Mad Men, which I loved (esp eps 5 or 6 on). So watch that so's we can chat.

We're about to go grocery shopping. Gaby just said, "Hey hon, can you check to make sure we have money in our bank account?" I'm all, "nah, I'm working right now," using "work" loosely to include surfing LPTJ. "Come on, we must have enough for a small grocery trip."
So she checks. We have $1.91. Fuck.

Here is me worrying needlessly, I hope.
One of the professors who wrote a letter on behalf asked to see my writing sample, so in the middle of last month I sent her a draft. I'm just now reading the draft I sent her -- which I'd put aside after I'd sent it to her so that I could make my way through the muck of Thanksgiving and a horrible depressive episode -- and there quite a few errors. Most of them are innocuous typos, but I do have a paragraph that really shouldn't be where it is at all. Now, I don't think these mistakes affected her letter -- she was my senior thesis adviser, so she's seen this paper in too many versions to name -- but I'm still worried just enough.
Also, the first deadline is Friday. We'll see how I do with that.

I kinda stopped watching Mad Men around episode 5, not because it wasn't very good, but because of the whole no internet connection thing. But those first five were pretty damn good. I do like well turned out unscrupulous conniving bastards with secrets in their closets. Not sure about the wisdom of putting Angel and Josiah Bartlett's offspring in the same room though.
