P.S. - I am sick of real life and having to "act like an adult"

Yeah.  I mean, I think to myself "Don't worry, dude, you'll be out of this place SOON." but I nkow that realistically, wherever I work next I'll have to behave in an adult manner, not fuck around on the internet, and show up on time.  So, in reality, it's good to start getting back into those practices now.  But right now, like I said, the spoiled whiteman's blues, they be takin' over.

I did get a raise, though.  And I think that, overall, the change will be good for my moral and personal self-worth.  If not, I'll just quit in a blaze of glory like that scene in Half Baked.

Man, this has been running through my had constantly...I still don't quite understand how I haven't gotten fired (oh, that's right, because nobody knows how to take care of all the shit that I do).

I mean, I just straight didn't show up one day last week...I called to say I'd be late, and then I just slept the rest of the day...never called back and never heard from the office.

I think it's about time to start looking for something new...

Dude, fucking TRUE.  Start looking.  'cuase I'm in a similar spot here, where my actions don't seem to matter one bit, and that in and of itself I think is demoralizing, no matter how much it's occasionally nice to be able to get away with stuff.

It's like, as nice as it is to have this "fuck it, I don't really care" attitude about work, you're right...it's just demoralizing.

Oh, that's right, I haven't told you guys yet...the ladyfriend is moving in with me.

This means that I might be able to get a job where I work less hours and not have to eat ramen all the time & scrimp every last cent.

Whoa, congratulations!  Hope everything goes well with that.  I will be moving in with my gentleman friend come March, if everything goes as planned.

That's good news, D!

See, hopefully everybody's movin' on up in the world.  Also, my best friend just called me and we had a surprisingly heart-to-heart short conversation about jobs and life, which was cool.

Yeah, I'm aware, but I'd merely plead mental & physical exhaustion if it came down to it.  That is, after all, most likely what's got me thinking and feeling the way I currently do anyhow.

I mean, it's seriously not like I'd ever leave my current position in a blaze of "FUCK THIS" glory...however awesome that might feel...

I've moved up to my new desk and spent the last hour and change getting set up.  It's a much nicer desk, in a sort of less bleak location in the building, but I'ma miss my friends downstairs, and chances are I am pretty much not gonna be on LPTJ for a while (whilst at work, anyhow).  We'll see.

But I do think this is going to be much more healthy for my eyes, and possibly my overall disposition.  Again, I am uncertain.  Hence, I am here.

Thanks, C!  I've been meaning to get in touch with you...  She's in and I have a cat now too!

I'm uncertain whether this will be the week that I get fired/quit...I am done with this place.  As of this month it's been 3 years.  I've had a good run here.

Dennis, congrats on the good news.

making me uncertain, having got my first exam results back I am unsure as to whether I should be happy I scraped firsts in all my modules, or concerned that I scraped them and am now setting myself up for a likely fall when the next ones come around.

Well, you gotta factor in the circumstances under which you got those results and the probability that you'll be getting the next set of results under similar circumstances. Also, you gotta remember that part of being at uni, in addition to the actual learning, is about learning how to get good grades. So you're only likely to improve in the techniques of things like essay-writing and exam-taking. Also, they don't mark those things out of 100, whatever they say... they mark 'em out of 85 (well, you might have a completely different grading system to mine so feel free to ignore that bit). Also, I suspect that as far as they can when it doesn't count (like now), they're not gonna give you uber-high marks because they'll want to keep you from getting complacent.

So - you should celebrate. With samosa smoothies. Very Happy

I did have samosa's for breakfast! But, samosa smoothies? For the love of christ NO. I am not blending something that basically only needs lips and gums to chew. Otherwise lips and gums will follow teeth into the dustbin of history. If that happens then I'll be with the rest of you in only having an empty gaping hole with loose flesh flapping over, flesh you have to push to the side as you pour your liquidised mush down the hole.

I have however been practising to see how many samosa's I can pack into a suitcase, which has left me with a greasy suitcase.

Well the lady's in NYC for the next five days, so it's just me and the cats. Getting a taste of true bachelorhood makes me remember how lonely and generally unpleasant it is.

The again, I can smoke pot in the living room and play video games without interruption until 4am.

What, man? Isn't that the habit of dudes whose ladies have gone out of town for a time?

i don't smoke pot or play video games, but i was up until after 2 am last night watching politics on tv and eating lime-flavored tostitos, so i can back pollo on his understanding of bachelor habits.

My booze consumption and time spent gaming would go way up if the wife and kids were gone for an extended period.

Hopefully I would still make it to work every day.  I'm fairly confident I can maintain that level of responsibility on my own.

Lime Tostitos are outstanding. One of those totally chemical flavors that somehow works.

Nah, everyone does that.

I meant the first part... I just figured that, what with how ridiculous/unnecessary you seem to find it when people who are not in relationships talk about the loneliness and unpleasantness of it... well, I figured that you would not be one of those dudes who found bachelorhood to be lonely and unpleasant.

But thinking about it, you seem to find it ridiculous/unnecessary when people talk about pretty much *anything* to do with romantic relationships, whether coupled up or not, so I don't really know why I made that initial assumption - just ignore that last post and enjoy the video game marathon  Cool

Just because I'm not like talking about how I came on someone's back last week and shit blood the next morning doesn't like exclude me from making casual mention about my home life, does it?

And really I'm sorry if it seems like I've ever discounted someone's loneliness or depression; it's not that I don't empathize, it's just that I'm usually not looking to spend my time on the internet reading 500 word posts from someone that wishes they were getting laid. Does that make me an asshole?

You're not excluded from making casual mention of your home life whether it involves video game marathons or shit and blood on the bedsheets. Why - am I excluded from making casual comment?
