except for jerry seinfeld.  the copious Bee movie plugs were annoying.  that was a little bit too much product integration.

I know what you're doing.  You're just disagreeing with everything I say today.

slow west vultures' personal hygiene is above reproach.

Oh man, sometime when I'm more sober, I'll talk about the girl I dated who did Product Integration.  Dang, that is some kind of insidious.

There weren't THAT many Bee Movie plugs. Also, Liz Lemon imitating Jerry Seinfeld, however unintentionally... oh man oh man.

One episode left in the first season of The Wire. Oh man oh man.

And back to Friday Night Lights: I am hoping I can compartmentalize the whole Landry-Tyra development, just as I was able to separate the Riggins/MILF stuff and Smash/Waverly stuff out from everything else last season -- I had actually forgotten about that Riggins subplot, to be honest. However, in this case, I don't think it will be possible. Again, it's some kind of bullshit up in there.

Lastly, Greg, you have to report back after you watch "Hardball." There is one scene in that episode that killed me dead.

I've read 3 or 4 TV critics now who've seen the next 3 eps and they all say not to worry about the FNL.  However I no longer trust any TV critic after they all hyped ""Pushing Daisies."  Jesus Christ.

The Seinfeld ep *was* a little uneven, but I think it's mainly because Jerry Seinfeld isn't funny.  Which one is "Hardball"?

I agree it was uneven, but any issue I had with Seinfeld's acting was redeemed by the hysterics of Liz.

I hope those critics are right -- I'd read one who had said otherwise, so I was not happy.

Hey, diebluc, did you see that they're remaking Cupid? Did you watch Cupid back in the day?

I did see that!  That's fucking madness.  I don't know what the hell is go on in the TV biz these days.  At this rate we'll get Firefly back in no time.

Remake Freakazoid! REMAKE FREAKAZOID!

Last FNL comment before I get coffee: Minka Kelly was actually decent! I thought the Lyla/Riggins scene super.

I was thinking that, too.  The grace scene was hilarious as well.

Also I hope the Landry/Tyra bs doesn't mean we get less Street.  He wasn't in that ep nearly enough.

Also, since this is the 21st page, NNY could legitimately make a new tv thread where we don't blame her.

*cough*

edit: I didn't see this

the whole appearance seemed like a Bee movie plug.  it was the central resolution of the plot, and when he turned to the camera and was like 'coming out nov. 20th' that was a little too much, especially with the Bee movie ads during the commercial breaks.   there's a fine line between taking a tongue and cheek approach to product plugs - like they did with snapple last year - and being cozy with the whole idea..  i'm not saying it ruined the episode, i just thought it was a little too obvious and forced this time.  they weren't really poking fun at the idea of plugging your movie - they were just plugging the movie.

It was a really good TV show with Jeremy Piven before he was a complete douchebag. It got canceled after 1 season or something. Like you do.
Okay maybe he is not completely a douchebag.
Maybe like 40%.

Yeah, I mean, it should be noted that it's extremely doubtful that Jeremy Piven will be in it again, or many of the original cast at all, they're just recycling the same concept and putting the same creator (VM's Rob Thomas) in charge.  It's weird to me how that guy is considered a "player" in the TV biz when all he has it 3 canceled series, but hey.

Isn't he involved in that Desperate Housewives The Totally Unnecessary Guy Version show?

edit Thomas, not Piven, but you knew that

Yes, ("Big Shots" not "Dirty Sexy Money"), as like a "consulting producer" or something.  I assume that since they added him like halfway through shooting, he's more involved in the "get shit in on time and on budget" side than the creative side, but I could be wrong.

He has an overall deal with ABC or some studio subsidiary thereof which means they'll probably have him doing a lot of that sort of thing.

Honestly, I said I didn't know why he's considered a player when he's only turned out cult series, but I lied; it's totally because he turns in good-looking shows on the cheap.  Being so cheap to make is pretty much the only reason VM wasn't canceled after Season 1.

are you doubting the artistic genius of Christopher Titus?

edit:

And if you think THAT show is bad, wait until midseason when both Darren Starr AND Candace Bushnell have shows.

edit:  Hey, you deleted that before I replied!

I deleted that because the concept and excecution of Big Shots offends me so much that it is not even worth trying to be funny about how bad it is.

At least it's not "Cavemen."

Seriously, this is such a bad year for new shows.

I sort of liked Titus. Stacy Keach was rad.

I really did not believe (truly believe) that Cavemen was not a hoax until I caught a clip of it this afternoon on the Soup. Dear

Well, hopefully some of the shows with mediocre pilots (Bionic Woman, DSM, Pushing Daisies, Reaper) will improve.  It  happens pretty frequently.  I'm afraid to even watch Moonlight, though.

This could be a rough year though, especially if Heroes and FNL have sophomore slumps, which looks more and more likely.

OH GOD

OH GOD MOONLIGHT IS SO BAD

OH MY GOD

Logan has the best lines, but there is not nearly enough of him because they are so focused on Tortured Funny-Looking Australian Guy. Also he is now officially not believable as a 30 year old finance guy or a college freshman.

We talked about this a little bit in the other TV thread; I guess it's a remake of Forever Knight yet somehow still owes a fuckload to Angel.

Has anyone else been watching the Office and been massively disappointed?

I mean not even Michael would drive into a lake b/c GPS told him to.

Edit:  I just saw the discussion on the old thread.

I do admit to liking what they did with Ryan's character.  Also, the Ryan/Jan interarction was amazing.

I just think they are overall trying too hard right now.  Also, I think the show benefits from editing--those episodes would rule if they were cut down to a trim half-hour or 45 minutes.
