You mean the Civ IV part that's gross, right?

Have you got the "Beyond the Sword" expansion pack installed?  It makes it way, way better.

Yeah, it's pretty funny how they always suck in the Civ games.  They always have really late-era civ-specific stuff that is useful to no one.

I like the beyond the sword expansion because it integrates present day and future stuff pretty smoothly.  It doesn't have the gayness of alpha centauri sci fi bullshit, but it at least makes it so "lasers" isnt the highest tech.

My next homebrew is going to be a nut brown ale. And I'm going to use some maple syrup along with the malt. I think it's gonna be good. Unfortunately I'm not sure it'll be done by Thanksgiving.

Also, I grabbed a sixer of New Belgium's seasonal, 2 Below earlier tonight. I dunno if it's different this year, but I'm liking it a whole lot more than I remember liking it last year.

Yeah, I dunno.  It tries it's best to make the late game more fun, but the game's pretty much always decided by about the Renaissance anyway.

Ooh, oh man, I was reading about the Sweetwater Brewing Co. and the tours they give on the weekends.  I'm gonna have to go soon--you pay like 8 bucks for a pint glass and they give you six drink tickets to sample all their stuff.  Fuck yeah!

Maybe another beer would help take your mind off of it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm really glad that Scott doesn't have that couch anymore now.

Man, I don't know how else to take it but the wrong way!

I convinced my boss last night, while we all were drunk watching the game, to change from Guinness to Murphy's.

yes, it has to be one or the other.

yes, I feel that murphy's is superior.

woooooo

Hey, with the difficulty cranked up, I'm just happy to be alive and kickin in the renaissance.  There's some cooler later game stuff though.  But you're right the the fun-ness of the game seems to wind down as you get really late in the game, and you're just trying to finish.

Hopefully they can continue to integrate the kinds of things they've done in the late game and some of the new features: the random quests are kind of cool! I was Jewish pretty early in the game and they wanted me to settle in the holy land, etc.  Corporations! They're really important in the real world and they've been largely ignored in the game up to now!  But the implementation in this game is pretty awkward and its tough to tell what you're actually doing!

That looks awesome, Greg!  The next weekend, I will be attending the Festival of Barrel-Aged Beer which I have mentioned 'round here once or twice.

My buddy flew up to Nebraska from San Antonio this morning.  I borrowed his girlfriends car and drove the 45 min. to the airport to pick him up.  Upon returning home, she was at class, so we split a sixer of Sam Adams Cherry Wheat while we waited for her to get out.  Except he was pretty pooped since he was up at 3:30 this morning on the way to the airport, so he only had two and I had four.  It's now 2:30 and boy oh boy I'm feeling nice!

They're heading to Cheyenne tomorrow to get work done on his tattoo, so I might tag along.  I'm pretty excited... I've never been to Cheyenne and being a Geography nerd, I like to go places, regardless of how dull they may potentially be.

what time is it?  it's time for dr0nk posting!

I met some fantastic friends at a "secret" bar and I let the bartender choose my drinks and he got me very drunk very fast and my friend paid the tab.  tomorrow I have to go to work, which will likely be painful, but for now I am content, basking in the glow of drunkeness and friends and the bright lights of the big city.

also, I have no idea what I drank.  I think there was gin involved, but I'm not sure.

EDIT:  my friends were friends I've known for many many years, not people I met at the bar.  actually, we met on the corner outside the bar at the appointed hour and entered en masse.

I drank some drinks and rode my bike tonight and got caught in the rain and rode home along the lakeshore while drinking some more and I rode by Lucy's place and thought about stopping and demanding beer but I did not
