Really though I think it's not intentionally inconsiderate--I think maybe the girl is just kinda dumb? No offense to yr friends Beth but I can't see why else someone would do that. Or even think that unplugging the fridge is an appropriate response to the fridge making weird noises.

Don't people understand they have to pay their bills?  I mean, yea, sometimes you can't do shit about bad financial circumstances, and whoever had the brilliant idea that medical bills should be able to ruin your credit should be shot, but some people just don't pay.  I've got a woman I'm trying to work with right now.  She makes about $3600 a month working 3 jobs.  That may not sound like much to most of you, but around here, that's great.  Her house payment is only $280.  Her son lives with her and makes $3500 a month working two jobs.  Her daughter also lives there, works two jobs, and makes $2080 a month.  None of them have remotely decent credit.  Not because they can't help that their debt exceeds their income, just because they don't pay anybody.  Why?!  I miss payments sometimes because I just don't have any money, but what the fuck are they doing with all that money?!

My roommate has had an overnight guest for the past 3 nights, and she is not leaving until Thursday. We live together in one tiny room, so it's not like there's room for another person to be sleeping in an inflatable mattress on the floor, or having her luggage all sprawled out all over my floor, or taking naps and insisting that I leave the light off when I want to read. C'mon now.

I'm sorry, but I'd rather be one of Them than sympathize with what my coworkers like to call "fronters." 9 out of 10 times, a case like this where the income is really high, but somehow the credit is insanely low, it's because someone else got a flatscreen in every room, so that became a necessity.  No kids and nothing to haul?  Why get a nice car when you can get a huge SUV with DVD players and 24" chrome wheels (because no one gets 22"s anymore) that you can barely afford?  I mean seriously, your friends have them.  Can't afford something your neighbor bought?  Better buy it anyway or people will judge you. 
So yea, I'll happily be one of Them in this case.  Fronters ruin everything they touch.

but those kind of people do exist, and it is kind of annoying to watch them be irresponsible. but i mean, ultimately--their problem, not mine.

Except that it becomes my problem, because I'm the one who has to spend my time trying to help them out, and then I'm the one who has to try to politely explain to them that they can't have this because they're idiots who don't understand how to live within their means, when it shouldn't be that hard being that they make more money than everyone I hang out with and almost everyone else in this area.

Because you can judge somebody's decency as a person by their credit rating.
