Well...I did buy my boyfriend a $300 digital camera, which was technically his Christmas present, though I'm planning on getting another small thing to give him when I get home.

So, can you beat $400?
No. I spent about $160 American, but I'm an impoverished student.

After I read this, I started to think, "Man, I haven't had a drink in awhile either. It's probably been a week for me too." But then I remembered it's only been since Thursday. Which I guess is kind of awhile. I probably should have one.

I like all of my gifts to serve a moral purpose, and generally that purpose is to show them that if they had made better life choices, their gifts wouldn't have to be so shitty compared to mine.

Shouldn't your gifts demonstrate that they'd be able to buy superior gifts if their parents had made better life choices?

All's I'm saying is a long time ago I got some nice business cards made up, ivory laid, with "Try Harder" on them in a classy sans serif font.  I pair one of those bad boys up with a $50 T-bond and that's been my birthday present to my nephew 6 years running.

It's a character-building thing, pollo, I wouldn't expect you to understand.

Anyway.

I borrowed my dad's digital projector (which he uses when giving presentations and things) and have been making hell of use of it playing Wii. I also took it over to my buddy's place and we pwned some n00bs in Halo 3 on the huge white wall in his spare room. The display area was taller than I am. It was frikkin awesome.

I spent less than €200 in total on presents- on christmas presents for my mother, father, sister and niece, and on slightly belated birthday presents for my mother and father.  And I bought it all in two hours.

I didn't realise it was a competition.

I can't sleep like a normal person lately (try to go to bed at 4, lay in bed and think about makin' stuff until 7).

So now it's 9:30 and I'm making a case for the nintendo DS I don't have.  Probably a bad idea, but when the only things you can think about are makin' stuff and buyin' stuff, you have to do something.

Also; my friend gave me some amazing orange and blue plaid cordury in October and I finally want something that warrents using it.

You're not paying enough attention to advertising, obviously.

So that was my mistake?  Gah!

And there was me thinking that when my mother said 'Well, I need slippers, and I can always use a book token' it should be taken at face value.  I have a lot to learn.

I wonder if they all think I don't love them any more.

interesting. free music, with drm, in exchange for putting up with ads. guess we'll see how this goes. i think it has better potential than any other idea i've seen yet, assuming the commercials sell for enough to make it profitable in the long term.

I don't have time to find the link for you but another story went up like an hour ago stating that 3 of the 4 majors involved have either backed out or shown major reluctance in the wake of Qtrax's announcement

Just as well I kept the receipts for the gifts, then.

Sorry, what was Qtrax's announcement?
Also, this whole Qtrax thing seems to make a LOT of sense, despite it possibly destroying the record industry.
