Weird little rite of passage on my 24th birthday: this kid from my German class, who had my telephone number from back when we worked on a project together, just called me out of the blue and asked if I could get him two cases of Keystone. This kid is 6'6", with a beard fuller than mine and a deep ass baritone. Kids today.

I don't understand how some places can just not practice daylight savings time. I mean, I think DST is STUPID and I don't see why we do it, but it seems like not playin' along would fuck everything up!

It's a little irritating not doing it (like, keeping track of the time difference so you don't call too early/late, cable TV shows get earlier/later).

But I find the doing it unfamiliar and jarring, the change in light in time unnerving.

Yeah, South Bend doesn't do it; it was kind of a trip to be on Chicago time half the year and New York time the other half.

DST is stupid, and now most of my friends are 13 hours behind me instead of 12.  Meh.

What I meant to say was, I jumped an hour more into the future, guys!  I am awesome!

the rest of the world can be a flaming post-apocalyptic wasteland, we'll NEVER CHANGE!  living in arizona basically means  adopting an attitude of disbelief to the outside world - whether that be the punishing natural environment, or the silly self-imposed time rules the rest of the country follows.

and blucas i think Notre Dame finally changed to be on eastern standard time.  i think thats about the only concession they'll make to secular rule though.

First of all, I totally blew it wrt DST. Not only did I stay up an hour later instead of gaining an hour of sleep, I woke up at my usual time, which is now an hour earlier, so I actually got LESS sleep than usual. Then I got sent home from work after an hour 'cause couldn't shut up my coughing. That's okay though, 'cause now I'm going to eat fake chicken soup and cuddle with Mackerel.
