I'm thinking the base will be the lavender-honey ice cream recipe in The Perfect Scoop, with a bit of scotch added, and some toasted candied oats mixed in.  Then I'll maybe serve each scoop atop a saucer of uncooked berry sauce.

Wow. That sounds amazing.

I remembered that I still had cookie dough in the freezer, so I baked the rest of it. I don't really like this recipe, though. It makes really crispy chocolate chip cookies, and I prefer them softer. I guess I'll just bring them to work. The cookie scoop is good, though.

That is a pretty good euphemism for nards, yes.  I got a small bag to carry (like a murse, really) but have started callnig it my Magic Sack, in a very clever reverse euphemism.

"reverse euphemism" always reminds me of this

You know, if I had been a harder thinker, I bet I coulda figured out where everybody who's here during the day went.  Traveling or having the day off.

both, for me. but if it's any consolation to you, i have to go back to work in 8 hours, and after having 4 days off in a row for the first time since... god knows when... i'm in no way prepared for such a thing. i really just want to stay up til 3 am. i may end up doing so anyway, because god knows i'm not tired at ALL.

wow, I'm bored. My other London friend I've not yet seen (I only have two now!) can't hang out this evening so I'm at my parents' house, wondering why all the good stuff suddenly disappears from the TV schedule the minute they leave the house and I can actually watch what I want. Two days ago, they were showing back to back episodes of Buffy. Now? A documentary about seeking the giant squid is the best I can find. Ah well, TV, there is always next year.

my job is so totally boring, and i forgot, until i got here and had a note from my boss about it, that i'd agreed to work a few extra hours after i normally get out of here, so now, instead of leaving at 4 and going to hang out with brandon like i planned, i have to stay here til 7. BLAH. hopefully brandon will still be able to hang out at the later time. god, i hate it when i fuck up on planning stuff.

Reese, I remember you saying how much you hated it when I said things about how much I wanted to start a thread on fire or something. How is this any different?

I am having an exciting saturday night of doing laundry.  sadly, that sentence is not as sarcastic as it should be.

yesterday I slept pretty nearly all day.  today I got up around 3p.  laundry is about as much excitement as I can handle.  though I do look forward to the day when I have an actual house with en suite laundry facilities.  that is the day I will consider myself a bona fide grown up.

You know, I've been hanging out in lucy's kitchen since the early afternoon, trying to cook food.  I'm not very good at it, and it's been a laborious process, but I figure this is one of those things you just gotta figure out how to do by doing it a whole bunch of times.

Anyway, the last couple of weekends have involved me doing lots of household labor-type stuff while also watching a lot of TV/DVDs or whatever aimlessly.  It's been really nice, and filled me with much more accomplishment than my job has in the last couple of months.  Though, we all know that's kind of damning it with faint praise.

Also, Reese?

Why is that everything feels like DOOM when you wake up at 4am and can't get back to sleep? Srsly.

Why is that everything feels like DOOM

It spells out D-O-O-M, Doom
And "Doom" backwards is "Mood";
I'm in the mood for you, girl.

I don't really have time to catch up right now, just checking in to say hello. New job's ok.* The people I work with all seem nice, not catty and petty like the last place.  It sure makes a difference when it's hourly and not commission sales! Some other stuff has been keeping me away from here for the past few days, but hopefully I'll be able to catch up with everyone tomorrow night!  Heart

*a little dull, but I can live with that.
