Against Me! is coming. This makes me unreasonably happy.

Gutted about the Mountain Goats cancellation, get better John!

What?

I went to the Immortal in-store appearance today. In addition to getting even more stoked about the show, getting my copy of Pure Holocaust signed and having Abbath shake my hand, I heard the promoter talking about an upcoming NZ tour by Morbid Angel.

Ah, yeah, all that stuff. Let no-one say the NZ contingent doesn't keep tabs...
There's been so many fucking bands come through recently. I just don't care for many of them. I have to care a lot to pay 10 times as much for some dull indie band as I can for Knife Fight or the Stumps of course...And I've been carefully avoiding checking to see whether a fast generalisation based on the fact that they're touring, was correct or not.

going to see explosions in the sky in various places soon.
looking forward to that quite a bit.

going to see autechre again shortly thereafter.

don't know what else.  i wanted to see radiohead again, but not for those prices and not at those venues.

i don't think there's a lot going on for me this year, but i'm not sure that's really a bad thing.  i need to pay off bills more than i need to go to a lot of shows.

I apologize for always posting about my own shows, but anyone in the new england area should come to portland the 29th or 30th or both for the Rattlesnakes record release weekend. We're playing two shows in some seriously punk rock living rooms and most likely getting drunk and (hopefully) selling a bunch of our new ten inches for dirt cheap (5 bucks). I promise you a floor to sleep on, a beer for both hands, and a bunch of sweet bands. Check our myspace for details.

Now you can spend the money you were going to spend on tMG on Immortal.
Unless you'd have left Wellington by then.

They're driving up tonight... On their way now, but not far enough to get to a gig in AK tonight - in fact I think they're stopping on the way.

Also, nice fun-fact: jazz musicians Daniel Carter, Sabir Mateen and William Parker, all performing at this festival, also appeared on Yo La Tengo’s “Summer Sun” to give it that nice jazz-improvisation kind of feel.

i saw parker, along w/ roy campbell jr (also in other dimensions) and joe morris two weeks ago...fantastic!

I really like the "evening with the famous..." bit. looks great.

I'm looking forward to a nice easter sunday going to see White Mice, DJ Scotch Egg, and Black Pus.
Black Pus are also opening for Boredoms later in those two bigger cities, and I kinda want badly to go.

Oh, and Why? is going to play on my friend's radio show next monday! I feel like that's pretty big-time, it should be cool. I'll listen in from work anyway. 3-5 whus.org

Good luck tonight Grace!  I guess you're probably getting started about now, so I expect Italy to melt into the sea within the next couple hours.

bob dylan is coming. probably my only chance in life to see him in concert. it'll probably be really expensive. and i don't know any of his post mid-70s material. and none of my friends like bob dylan, not even my dad so i'll probably have to go alone which is weird. so i don't know if i'm gonna go.

I went and saw Dylan semi-alone last year (my friend got our tickets while I was out of town at different times) and it was a relatively dispiriting experience. His voice is pretty blown, which is okay for the new songs that he's written around his voice, but if you don't know that stuff, and the older stuff that you will recognize will be largely disappointing if you care about "original melodies" or things like that, and you don't have a posse to enjoy it with, then ...

I mean, I'm all about "see 'em while they're alive so you don't regret it", but I definitely don't think it will change your life. On the other hand, you should definitely pick up MODERN TIMES, LOVE AND THEFT, and TIME OUT OF MIND regardless.

Mint Chicks back in April! Yay!
