Alright, that sounds good. Having a couple lyric translations alone should make this worth it, so I'll put it on order soon.
Haven't heard that cover, no, so thanks for making it available - I'll be sure to give it a listen!

Huh, that's a pretty radical re-interpretation.

Yeah Smolken does that a bit. Im impressed he sang it in Japanese though.
Nothing like Polish black metal covers of Tomokawa songs...
Wish he could have found a children's choir for it.

New album finally coming - not on the PSF site yet, which seems awfully out of date....
from PSF:
Kazuki Tomokawa
"Blue Water,
Red Water"
PSFD-8028 (CD)
Release date: out now!
Vocals, Guitar – Kazuki Tomokawa
Drums, Percussion – Toshiaki Ishizuka
Piano, mandolin, accordion – Masato Nagahata
Guitar – Taro Kanai
Violin – Ayumi Matsui
Tuba, Recorder – Takero Sekijima
Cello – Hiromichi Sakamoto
Latest album of devastating emotional transcendence from the Japanese underground’s most lyrical singer-songwriter. Full of classic, richly textured songs of love, loss and stunned acquiescence to the wonders of the world. Alongside Tomokawa’s regular collaborators Toshiaki Ishizuka and Masato Nagahata, the expanded group also includes Compostela-veteran Takero Sekijima on tuba and recorder, and improv-legend Hiromichi Sakamoto on cello.
Includes Tomokawa’s ending theme song for director Rokuro Mochizuki’s “Johnen – Jo no Ai” – a retelling of the Abe Sada story.
Booklet includes lyrics in Japanese and English.
....so yeah, first one with lyrics translation! About time too. And a tuba player!
I guess I better buy one then...

I emailed PSF three days ago but have yet to hear from them. Needless to say, I couldn't be more excited. Or impatient.

Is it not unheard of that PSF take more than four days to reply to emails? A man gets tired of checking his emails for a reply every five minutes, after all!

(Volcanic Tongue have the new album, but it would be significantly more expensive to order from them, and also less nice, because they don't have most of the older CDs I also wanted to get)

There are four national holidays in Japan between April 29 and May 5, so perhaps they're, you know, taking a vacation. It happens.

No problem. It's cute when you're overexcited/impatient
Especially if the cause for your excitement is as worthy as a new Kazuki Tomokawa album, obviously.
Also, I kinda wish they'd reply to my e-mail, too.

hmmm, they've always been pretty quick to reply to my emails too!
Maybe I should send em one, and see if I hear first...
What bad timing to take a holiday.
New Tomokawa album is more important than a national holiday!
New Tomokawa album should be a national holiday!!
I'm a go email them now in fact!

I thought it was pretty genius when Luke Haines called for a week-long Pop Music Strike, then went on to release an album at the very start of that week, thus rendering everyone who was enough of a fan to buy the album on release a scab.
edit: And himself, obviously. Also, this is admittedly only very tangentially related.

Well, haven't you ever worked on a public holiday? Label staff should get double time on the day of Tomokawa release!

I will order it in June (the holidays over there should be over by June, I hope), as I am trying to curtail music spending a little bit. I will also check out Kan Mikami at that point, so you people who know about these things have a month to recommend me a Mikami.
Also, the Tomokawa stuff I got has made an excellent soundtrack to walking through the park on the weekend the last couple weeks.

Woohoo, Mikami comp! I ordered the latest two albums, but recommendations for past albums will be useful in the future, certainly

I've only had a quick listen or two to Juw, but Barking Practice is really great, possibly as good as any of the PSF years ones.
Jazz & Other Things is a good intro one too.
And there's a bunch I don't yet know well enough...

Well, it was only a few minutes ago...Just been buying other stuff online, and it popped up. Probably means they're going through, newest first. You should get yours soon...
Or maybe they do love me more than you.
Maybe Tomokawa Box-ownership status guarantees you lifelong priority service.
That would be kinda cool actually...
Does it apply to other stuff too?
