here's something else

(the last thing i want to do, for the record, is start a filesharing debate. i'm probably one of the most staunch advocates of buying physical media on this board, so all that should be unnecessary. but there are two out-of-print albums i'm trying to find, and one of them i found this morning, thanks to jim, and the other is john fogerty's self-titled second solo album from 1975 or so. the search continues.)

This the one? Because those prices don't look bad.

Heard a song yesterday on the university station, it was kind of a spoken word type song, the guy was just talking, kind of slow and it sounded like the Slint guy - I only remember the line "My face is my mask" which appears to have been a reference to a former NHL hockey player - any ideas who this could be? - I was intrigued -

Sorry - I could have mentioned that. Thanks for looking into it for me - I think I might have to check that band out, I think I heard another song by them that I found interesting, which was nothing like the Gump Worsely song...

My absolute fav is Fallow but others here will rep for Left and Leaving, still others the two new ones (Reconstruction Site and Reunion Tour), so YMMV. If you like that song a lot, though, the two newest ones might do it for you a little more than the older ones, which tend to be more power-pop-mixed-with-a-little-country. RS and RT are a little more "experimental" I guess, though I feel weird calling them, 'cause it's not like experimental, you know what I mean? They're definitely expanding their sound, though. Also JKS is one of the top three lyricists in rock, I'd wager.

You know waht I'd reeeally like to have?

A copy of Built to Spill's Big Dipper.  Here at work.

I mean, ideally, I'd ahve all of "There is Nothing Wrong with Love" but I understand, getting someone to YSI the whole thing is much less likely.  But Big Dipper would be phenomenal.

I've just been hearing D.M. sing "He THOUGHT an Albertson stir-fry dinner would make his apartment a hoooome" all morning.

Aw shit, this weekend, I had a BtS single with a live acoustic version of "Big Dipper" on it, but I don't have it with me now.

I'll YSI that tomorrow though.

Hey! I just realized I had it on an external hard drive that I left at my office.  So I'm good to go with the whole album.

Still wouldn't mind hearing that acoustic version, if you get a chance :-)

Thank you so much Jim.  You and yours are cordially invited to my upcoming event, AUG'S BIG SLOPPY BLOCK PARTY which is where lots of beer and sloppy joes will be.

I really am serious about the sloppy joes, though.  I owe you some and I'm not gonna forget it.
