the difference is that hillary will make it illegal not to sign up for the health care program. barack obama has said that he feels that it's wrong to punish people for not being able to afford health care, so he hopes that the industry will be reformed enough that everyone will eventually be able to afford it. hillary calls this "a failure to insure every citizen in this country", which is pure double talk on her part.

i mean, i'm being offered a healthcare plan at my job right now. it's a supposed "benefit." but i remain uninsured and my wife is uninsured because it would take me probably 4 full days of work to pay off the insurance plan offered by my company. that's a big chunk of money that pays our car insurance, our power bill, etc.

there's no way i could afford that plan, and she would make it illegal for me to opt out?

she may be losing some delegates this week, but she finally got the nod in new mexico, and early polls show big leads in texas, ohio, and pennsylvania.

if obama doesn't want the media to swing the momentum back her way, he's got to win big in wisconsin and hawaii, and perform very well in the debate next week.

3 weeks is a long time to keep that kind of momentum going, and if she wins big in those three states, i worry...

About half the 800 superdelegates -- elected officials, party leaders, and others -- have committed to either Clinton or Obama, though they can change their minds until the convention.

Obama's political action committee has doled out more than $694,000 to superdelegates since 2005, the study found, and of the 81 who had announced their support for Obama, 34 had received donations totaling $228,000.

Clinton's political action committee has distributed about $195,000 to superdelegates, and only 13 of the 109 who had announced for her have received money, totaling about $95,000.

you'd either have to get that plan or the government one that is being made available, but basically yes, it would be illegal for you to completely opt out. if you did so, your tax refunds could be seized, or your wages garnished. she's been very vague on punishments because she's trying to keep everyone from noticing this element of her health care plan, but she has refused to rule out those punishments, or really any others.

but hey, technically speaking, everyone would be covered!

shit, i wonder what would happen to homeless people under this system...

gaining her 2 more delegates than obama received in the state...

and early polls show big leads in texas, ohio, and pennsylvania.

true, but he's closed the gap by something like 15 points since a month ago. at this rate, he's got a good shot at winning at least one of them. really, with things the way they are, all he has to do is stay close to her. she needs 10-point wins in all three of those states to stay in the race.

i question whether this article is telling the full story, too. they're going back to 2005 for their numbers where obama is concerned, which means they're taking into account any donations he put towards 2006 congressional candidates in order to help them win or retain seats in congress. who knows, that might be where the clinton donations come from, too. it's not as clearcut as this quote wants it to look. plus, if you really want to know the full story on obligations, monetary and otherwise, that the clintons have created with regard to superdelegates, you'd have to look back to 1992.
