true. if there's no sign of progress at all after a bit of this treatment, doctor to rule out anything more serious, but i'm also one of those people who avoids doctors when i'm pretty confident its something i can treat myself, unless its to the point where its irresponsible not to rule out other possibilities.

speaking of puppy-kicking, man, if there was a puppy nearby i would gladly kick the fuck out of it. trying to get to work today made me feel like a minor character in "the road warrior", all dodging ridiculousness from other drivers who have machine guns mounted on their hoods, going "jeeezus, i'm just trying to get to WORK here!" i mean, it wasn't THAT bad but the kind of stupidness that causes bad accidents happened multiple times during my five-minute drive. then i get to work 15 minutes late after having to drive all over the neighborhood looking for a parking spot and we're slammed. and the customers were all stupid and weird and obnoxious. well, except for one pretty girl who had been having trouble finding gene wolfe books for her brother--i helped her find what she was looking for and she was obviously grateful and smiled at me a lot. and then it came out that she went to va tech and was going to the orange bowl for the game so we bonded a bit over that too. that was pretty awesome on the whole. but then within 30 seconds i was being plagued by obnoxious old people again. siiigh.

this is the only time of year that even MY retail job is hell.

working retail is totally worth it since most of the year i really really love my job. but you're right about driving, i should really buy a new seat for my bike so that i don't give myself horrible pains every time i ride my bike, and stop driving except when i have to go more than 5 miles or so.

girlfriend getting it hard from that airlines. 

She went to check in online tonight, and saw that the second leg of her flight was just cancelled..WTF!

So they rebooked her, but they made it so she'd have to leave the terminal in denver, check in, go back through security etc and she only had a 45 minute layover.  but then when she called back, they had spelled he name wrong and no reservation.

Then finally I call and get her in to dulles ($70 cab ride) after midnight and she has to work the next day.

Also, partly because of that, partly not, my Christmas was kinda meh and boring. It's been that way for the past few years. I almost feel like giving it up. Not quite, but almost.

I'm annoyed that I'm starting to get well, but it's hard to eat anything when everything tastes weird--some things taste moldy, some taste rubbery, some just taste like paste.  I'm not really stuffed up, either, it's a taste thing--I tasted straight salt and sugar and I could barely tell them apart.  this better go away soon.

i've been pretty sick since saturday, left work early saturday and called out sunday, flew to MA monday, but the ear pressure i already had going + air travel meant that i couldn't hear out of my left ear from when i landed (11AM) until sometime between 4 and 5AM. and i'm still quite sick, and am going to the doctor in 2.5 hours, which is my first doctors visit since march. i do not have insurance. i feel like death. i fly home tomorrow, where i hopefully won't have round two of the ear thing, and i'm supposed to close tomorrow night, work 8 hours saturday, and work sunday. i can't really afford not to work. this isn't really how i wanted to spend my visit with the family!

I second this. I'm not getting it as hard as FK's gf, but I'm stuck in fucking Minnesota with only mild hopes of escaping today, and even if I do it'll now be into the Orange County airport, which is a long-ass fucking drive that my lady will probably not be too enthused about. It was either that or an itinerary tomorrow that went La Crosse-Minneapolis-Memphis-Portland-Los Angeles. Blech. I'll probably still end up with something like that, since I now get to MPLS about twenty minutes before the connecting flight departs--if, that is, either one leaves at all, which is highly up in the air.

yesterday my mother was crying and making me feel like The Worst Daughter Ever (tm) because I was planning on spending some time away from home once my closest friends left.

Today she was being aggressive and nasty and some gentle questioning brought out that she wanted to have the place alone with her boyfriend this weekend and was upset that I was going to be sleeping here Saturday night.


I just. The weight of the crazy. It hurts. This will work out fine as I have plenty of places to stay but it's annoying to have to ask around and prod her to find out what I need to do to keep her from freaking out.
