Yeah, that's the worst non-October Road show on network television.

I really don't think I'd be watching Dexter if it wasn't on Showtime.

Is it totally sad and ridiculous that this part of the Heroes finale bugged me?

--the white section below contains spoiler text--
Peter's ladyfriend is trapped in the future.  Peter changes the present so that future no longer happens.  I guess different people write time travel differently but to me, since the future that she is in no longer exists, she no longer exists.  So by changing that future in the present, Peter effectively killed her, or rendered her void anyway.  Exactly how the fuck are you saving her there, Peter?  So say he either travels to the future to find her or waits until that time comes around naturally.  What happens then?  Are we going to get into parallel universe stuff?  Will he travel sideways or diagonally in time?  I really don't trust the writers of this show to handle anything that complex.  But I'm sure they won't, she'll just be there, in complete defiance of causality.  Ah fuck it.
--end spoiler text--

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's completely pathetic that I thought that much about it.

edit: so yeah, the color and glow tags completely don't work in IE

I didn't watch the finale yet, but I read Jim's spoiler text anyway, and it didn't really spoil anything for me, and it's a question I'd like to consider. For now let me just say: Oy.

I really don't think I'd be watching Dexter if it wasn't on Showtime.

Well, they'll be running chopped up versions of reruns of Dexter, not new episodes.  Dexter is a struck show, too, they just already had S2 finished.  S3 will air on Showtime, no doubt.

Also, I agree, Jim, nothing about Heroes' time-traveling stuff makes a lick of sense.  Also when with Mohinder die.  DIE already.

It should be pretty obvious that (don't read jeb actual big spoiler for the finale) Peter's blood should have the same healing effect as Claire's or Adam's, so Nathan should be right as rain.

you gotta make the glow super-strong like
Code:
[glow=black,20,300]

if that 20 stays a 2 or whatever it's still completely legible. see: my struggles with glow on page 3 of this thread.

I didn't hate Heroes Season 2 but I've mostly felt pretty apathetic to it, in contrast to Season 1 which I mostly loved. I think it was mostly the serious lack of good characters/character development. I'll probably watch some of S3 to see if it gets any better but eh. Disappointing.

I remember reading an interview with Tim Kring (did it get linked from here? I always have trouble properly sourcing internet stuff) in which he basically admitted that season 2 had some problems, and he pretty accurately diagnosed them, and he laid out his plan for fixing that in the future, which makes me hopeful. Then again I quit watching in the middle of this arc. I'll probably give it another shot after the writer's strike though.

Season 2 definitely picked up tho.  I'll agree that the first 4 episodes were major dad.

the last three episodes or so were pretty good though.  I mean ALLLELEEEEJJJJANNDROOOOOO OO OO  finally got cut like the bitch he is, and MAAAAAAAAYJA finally got her bitch ass capped.

Season 1 was great when Sylar and Mohinder were toolin around town, and Sylar was offing random characters and you were like COME ON JUST KILL MOHINDER IS HE GONNA FINALLY DO IT OH OH oh no.

I'm four episodes into The Wire s4, and I have nothing but superlatives for it, as expected. Full-frontal Omar was a nice touch, and I was caught off gaurd by seeing Jim McKay direct an episode--I couldn't quite place the name and thought he was the guy who directed The Big Easy and David Holzman's Diary, but that was Jim McBride; McKay did the R.E.M. video Tourfilm.

Anyway, so far Netflix hasn't yet screwed me, so if all goes well I will binge-watch this through to the end over the next few days.

Does anyone here watch Mad Men?  1960's sexual politics + marketing + money = damn good drama.

I finally went back to se. 6 pt. 2 of the Sopranos. That is not a pleasant nine hours of television by any stretch of the imagination.

I've watched four episodes of Mad Men so far. Entertaining enough. The tone is inconsistent, but I can deal with it.

And it looks like TV critics have gotten the first seven episodes of the fifth season of The Wire. Any chance this will leak soon? elpollo, lastclearchance, do you know?

And re: the above, "pleasant" meaning "good" or, like, "comforting"?

The latter, definitely. It's good, maybe greater than the first couple of seasons when it comes to characterization, as Chase seemed most interested in deconstructing everything that makes Tony's life seem even remotely glamorous. But there is just so much awkward awful shit going on in each episode: Uncle June in the mental hospital, AJ's self-absorption, Johnny Sac wasting away to nothing, Tony's shit with Bobby and Janice... I dunno. When it comes to bleakness, I think the last season of the Wire and the last season of the Sopranos are in a dead heat. Although at least Chase implies that the death of the soul is somewhat personal.

I agree. However, I'd say "Soprano Home Movies" was definitely my favorite episode of pt. 2 because it managed to be deeply unsettling and moving simultaneously; but with each subsequent episode I  the bleakness became more and more oppressive, sometimes almost for oppressiveness's sake (see: the exchange between Heidi and Kennedy), and by the end I wasn't mourning anybody, which disturbed me a little. That said, I really have to rewatch the show from start to finish. I haven't seen the first season since 2001!

at this point i'm becoming convinced that Tracy Jordan's lines on 30 rock are written using Mad Libs.  funny episode though.  i think 30 rock needs to be a little longer though, because the last couple of episodes have just closed on a random point.  i wish some of the action would spill over onto other episodes.

See, that's what I'm saying: with that exchange between Heidi and Kennedy, Chase pulls back to show you how meaningless and insignificant that event really is. Why do that!? It's so brutalizing.

That post doesn't make a whole lot of sense: I'm drunk. And actually that was one of those moments where I paused and went "Whoa. This guy doesn't really give a shit what I think." And call me easy, but I sort of respect that.
