my bad, messed up the tag, that was quoted from TV Guide.

I still can't believe they haven't leaked yet with this many reviewers having seen it.

Also lcc, I looked at that aicn writeup, and I don't think the casting info is necessarily exhaustive, especially given how many people are on the show.  I think it's only listing the regulars, ie, the people who will be in at least 6-8 episodes.

It does have a list of the episode cast for the first four episodes though (although that too is not necessarily exhaustive).

1. I hate all of you who haven't posted your Wire spoilers in hidden text.
2. Woo, Steve Earle! I watched this part before I got into the show but still.

Shit, shit, shit, shit. I'm guessing I'm going to be greeted with complete silence here, but shit I'd forgotten how good Our Friends in the North is. Following four working class Geordie friends from the early sixties until the mid nineties, using their paths to chart the economic, cultural and political changes within Britain over that period without ever losing sight of the characters, and MY GOD what characters, with cast the size of the telephone directory you'd have thought that some of them would turn into ciphers but no no no no, pretty much each and everyone of them is given room to breath and become flesh and blood. All this and I'm only at episode 5 of 9. This might well be the best British teevee serial there's been. Right now it sure as hell feels like it must be. In fact I may be as bold to suggest that whilst it doesn't reach the dizzying heights of the Wire it doesn't look like sludge in comparison. It's only weak sport being that the first episode betrays the texts theatrical roots a wee bit, but the rest of the time you just marvel at how rich and densely textured it all manages to be. If any of you can get a hold of a copy, or download it from somewhere or another I'd recommend it whole heartedly. Pollo and Jeb, I'm looking at you. Anyone who fancies watching a drama about police corruption, governmental incompetence, housing inadequacies, the spread of pornography in Soho, love both lost and found, musical failure and tea drinking machine gun toting anarchists will probably love this.

yeah i'd watch that, especially with my secret love of everything british.  i just picked up mark knopfler's cd 'The Ragpicker's Dream' a couple weeks ago, and this first song is about geordies (which i picked up means from Newcastle?) and its really really good.  is this a new tv series?

Also just want to say that the nominations for the Golden Globes are even more cracked-out than the Emmys, if that's even possible.  Is there anyone on the planet who would nominate Californication over Weeds AND The Office?  I mean, if you're going to pick a Showtime comedy it should be pretty obvious which one is superior.  Jesus H. Christ.  And DamagesThe Tudors?  Really?  Really?  I mean, if you want to nominate a bunch of cable shit, that's fine, but there are better shows out there.

Hell, JFC was better than Californication.

My brother told me the other day that they made a show about his life, and it's called californication.  How should I react to that?

Currently, I am watching an parodic English translation of a Japanese parody of another Japanese show. Michel Foucault can kiss my pomo ass.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd rather see it there than Lost, Heroes, Boston Legal, Brothers & Sisters, Housewives, etc  It's just a little strange to me why OK, good-but-problematic cable shows got nominated and GREAT cable shows didn't.

Also I want to murder everyone who's ever been involved with Entourage.

Alec Baldwin said that in episode number 2!   More than anything else, it's what sold me on the show.  I mentioned it to a friend, and he was like, "But her name is Lemon.  Are you sure they made that reference on purpose?"  and I was like, "Dude."
